Mid Missouri Powerhouse and their customers have always been big fans of the Sonic, and the update won’t change anyone’s mind. The hood, front fascia, and headlights are all new, and the there is an optional LED accent lights and smaller grille package. The rear fascia and tail lamps have been redesigned as well.
One of the bigger design changes from the 2016 to the 2017 Sonic is the color palette. The 2017 Sonic’s color palette is even more extensive than before; offering hues including Orange Burst Metallic, Brimstone Cajun Red Tintcoat, and Artic Blue Metallic. The new Sonic also has upgraded 15-, 16-, and 17-inch wheels.
The 2017 Sonic is still available in LS and LT Model, and the LTZ trim has been renamed Premier. However, the hatchback lineup has changed a bit more from the 2016 to the 2017 model. The RS treatment, which includes a stiffer suspension, sport exhaust, and a body kit, will be added to all Hatchback models. The sedan can also be upgraded to the RS package for a bit more excitement.
The 2017 Sonic interior will feature power driver’s seat, keyless entry and push-button start, heated cloth seats, and a heated steering wheel. Models with the 7.0-inch MyLink toughscreen will offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
There were no changes made to the 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine or the 1.4 liter turbo charged four, but the smaller turbo’s 148 pound-feet or torque is 23 stronger than the standard engine. Both engines still come with the six-speed automatic or six-speed manual.
Mid Missouri Powerhouse cannot wait for the 2017 Sonic to hit the lot come fall.
