As the time finally arrives when we see exactly what new features models will bring here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse, it is always thrilling to check out the extra and ingenious ways to enjoy your brand-new vehicle. When it comes to trucks, that excitement is now even greater, as towing capacities, developments in trailering, and all sorts of infotainment technology have seen great advances recently. The 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 saw quite the list of upgrades, presenting the buyer with that many more reasons to make it their own.
There is now the addition of the new Multi-Flex tailgate and the turbocharged 2.7-liter inline-four L3B engine option present on all Regular Cab Long Box models. The incoming 2022 Silverado was recently spotted in the wild via spy shots, from GM Authority, in the form of the Regular Cab and the Work Truck trim. Outside you can see the door handles and sideview mirror caps finished in black, while the wheels are 17-inch aluminum wheels see Bright Silver paint. There will be a redesigned front fascia, placeholder headlamps, new front fender, a redesigned box, rear end, and new tail lamps.
When you are settled in and beginning to set your sights on the long haul, comfort in the cabin is a necessary trait. The good news here is that this is where the biggest changes will be in the interior space, where the pickup now sees a layout similar to the 2021 Tahoe and 2021 Suburban. Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert will also reportedly be an option on the 2022 Silverado, informing the driver if any other vehicle is suddenly approaching too close to the trailer or is within any blind spot. This system works wonders in regards to preventing accidents which could be catastrophic with the added weight and mass of a trailer involved.
This time around during the refresh, we are fairly certain that we are going to be seeing many experts offering up very enthusiastic recognition for the accomplishments in engineering and design. It is also possible that a new bed step may be added from the heavy-duty models, and the half-ton truck may see the addition of a similar two-light arrangement much like is seen on the larger Silverado HD.
Well-known for its capability and upright appearance, the namesake of the Silverado is also keeping many on edge with the ZRX version on schedule to appear within the next year as well. One of the most important details for us to keep you posted on is another rumor that has been circulating for some time: the platform may even need to be modified to make way for a hybrid powertrain.
