Motortrend Reports on New Trailblazer Debut Slated for April 16

Later this month when the Shanghai auto show kicks off with a bang, many various supercars and electric cars will be featured, but only a few will likely make their way to the States. A blog update published this week on Motortrend.com claims that this is where the new Chevy Trailblazer, as well as Trax, will be revealed. You can see in the images provided here that it could be a smaller, more off-road ready CUV that slots right under the Blazer. There was also news heard from the Detroit Auto show in January that Chevy plans to bring the Trailblazer back, in the likes of a small crossover that will slot between the Equinox and the Trax.

One particularly eye-catching sketch shown here of a small Chevy SUV was part of a presentation by GM execs to investors in New York last year, which coincided a bit with sources telling Motor Trend that there is indeed a small crossover coming to the Chevy lineup that could resurrect the Trailblazer name. Even if this model being unveiled soon is not too much bigger than the subcompact Trax, it could also turn out being a more upscale model within the same size bracket.

It has definitely been exciting for all of us here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse to witness the revitalization of the Blazer, and the Trailblazer would absolutely be a very timely and capable release to have on deck in addition. In the instance of the Blazer, GM began work years ago on a midsize crossover to fit snugly between the Equinox and Traverse. Many die-hard Blazer fans have given us a bit of a hard time since the new model differs in size and is not currently a body-on-frame variant, but we are steadfast and strong in our belief that it is still going to be an epic and wildly popular vehicle choice for 2019!

The potential rendition of the Trailblazer would not have anything in common with the original, which was in essence a very upscale trim line of the K5 Blazer. It was available from 1999 until 2001, when it became its own model as a midsize SUV. A second generation of the Trailblazer, which was using the Colorado truck frame, was launched for 2012, and never introduced in the US. There are many choices within the crossover SUV genre as of late, and some out there may not understand all the various shapes and sizes now in existence while mulling over options. 2019 Blazer Specs and Dimensions Detailed by Gm Authority

Many Mid-Missouri Powerhouse customers have been understandably pretty jazzed up about the release of the 2019 Blazer: some of the leaked stats from earlier this month were not correct in some circles, and the official specifications from Chevy dealer sales material have now been made public. Some diehard Chevy fans have claimed that they were a bit leery regarding the “crossover SUV” category that the Blazer occupies: this is the fifth generation of the Blazer namesake, which has its hefty and haul-ready roots dating back to 1969. 

The new model rides on the regular wheelbase variant of the GM C1 platform, and this year's model possesses eye-catching exterior design, well-integrated customer focused tech, and a level of functionality that is clearly evident during every single drive. At a glance, one can tell that many of the design elements are shared with the sixth-generation Camaro, an intense mix that would not have appeared nearly the same a few decades ago. The vehicle range consists of four trim levels, including the base L, three mid-tier Blazer trim levels, the sportier Blazer RS, and the top-of-the-line Blazer Premier.

New features for 2019 include the very useful in cold weather capless fuel fill, HID headlights, LED daytime running lights, and a Cargo Management System. The well-esteemed and trusted folks on staff at Consumer Reports thought that the active noise canceling as standard on all trim levels was a great benefit, as well as the raw and glorious grunt of the 305-horsepower V6.

Maximum towing is rated at 4,500 pounds, and there is a useful “hitch view” within the rearview camera that gives you a closeup shot to make sure you are right on point. All trims come with the Teen Driver feature: something that was only dreamed about two decades ago, this is the way to fully track your younger ones, and generate a high-tech “report card” to allow them to continue safe use and/or insurance coverage.
