New Silverado EV Work Truck’s 450-Mile Version Exciting Arrival Redefines an Era

The pickup wars now are in a completely different era here at the Mid Missouri Powerhouse, as electrification has ushered in an age that accentuates the importance of a vehicle’s range performance. The Silverado EV work truck for fleet customers now resides at an EPA estimated range of 450 miles on a full charge, which is an additional 50 miles richer than the previous estimate of 400 miles. This phenomenal grand total provides the truck with 100 miles more of additional range over the competing Rivian R1T Pickup, along with Ford’s F150 lightning featuring an extended battery pack.

The Work Truck Series is meant for GM's commercial fleet customers and will soon arrive armed with a 450-mile range and its very own modern means of offering tomorrow’s truck today. There will also be another work truck model available with an estimated 350 miles of range, and the first consumer version of the Silverado EV is set to arrive in the fall. This important update regarding the Silverado EV arrives after Tesla just this week conducted its annual shareholder meeting, where “cyber truck production later this year” was officially announced.

As the entry-level offering in the Silverado lineup, work truck models are priced generally lower as an attractive option for commercial operators that are keen on squeezing as much range as they can in the name of business. This year has already seen the release of the Silverado EV, the Chevy Blazer, and Equinox EVs, which GM says will all have a base price of around $30,000. The goal for GM is to have a finalized EV production of 400,000 vehicles by the middle of next year, setting their sights on expanding capacity to 1,000,000 EVs every year by 2025.

Resembling a more classic take on the electric pickup truck and still being available with a midgate design, next year’s Silverado EV may remind some of the now-discontinued Avalanche pickup from the early 2000s. DC fast-charging technology can provide the battery with 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes, and dual electric motors are the driving force behind the standard all-wheel drive and up to 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes. The Silverado EV will not have any shaky shortcomings whatsoever in the towing department with its 10,000-lb capacity, and ability to haul up to 1300 pounds of payload. 

The Car and Driver review crew were able to get their own peek inside the loaded RST model, and were impressed with its fixed glass roof, black-and-white two-tone leather upholstery with red piping, and about the same passenger space as a regular Silverado crew cab pickup. There is a column-mounted stalk that acts as mounting for the shifter, which makes for a very cool and massive storage bin between the dashboard and middle armrest. 

We expect Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to come as standard, with in-dash navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot checking in as other perks of the package. The 2024 Silverado EV's key safety features will include standard automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, available lane departure warning with lane keeping assist, and available adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode. When combined with the available accessory power bar, the Silverado EV's power base charging system offers up to 10 outlets, for a total of 10.2kW of available chores for anything from outdoor activities to even powering your home.

2022 Chevy Silverado's Mid-Cycle Refresh: Implementing The Ideal Work Truck

Right now in America, the dire competition between light and heavy-duty pickup trucks is fierce enough that it makes the duel between high-end supercar brands appear mellow and tame! The GM Authority crew first reported sighting a camouflaged 2022 Silverado during rigorous drive testing near Detroit, with a redesign of the front headlamp arrangement that is similar to the new Tahoe and Blazer. GMC's MultiPro tailgate system will also make its way over to the lower-end Silverado trims, which will allow anyone to access the bed much easier no matter what the cargo type is. There was a time in truck history when having any pickup truck without the capability and grunt of a V8 was nearly unthinkable. Now there are varieties of high output as well as fuel-efficient V6 engines and turbo-diesels that can wear many hats, and haul a huge variety of goods. 

This new version is slated to offer a 4.3-liter Ecotec V6 that boasts power equal to the Ford's Ecoboost V6 or Ram's 3.6-liter Pentastar with eTorque. Other recent spy shots that have been circulating have had a four-leaf spring rear suspension setup, which could aid greatly in allowing the Silverado to reclaim the valuable title of the highest towing capacity in its class. Another great addition to the Silverado line will be the addition of Google's embedded proprietary automotive operating system, which allows for access to Google's app play store and voice recognition software.

With customer interest in pickups rising steadily every year, there will also be the presence of other fantastic additions such as the super cruise autopilot system found in the Cadillac Escalade. Other spy shots revealed a much larger infotainment display system than what was available on previous models, and we are living in the most exciting of times as we witness the luxury factor excitedly exploding as interiors and cabs step up massively to provide the ultimate in customer satisfaction.

The times that allowed for the purchase of a truck that was not built up to par and did not even offer the most basic features for the drive are over. Fully embracing the new breed of pickups that have a slew of high-tech offerings and applications to make jumping off-road a viable option, we have loved to see just how far the industry as a whole has come over the last decade. Special Edition Chevy Silverado Specials Ops Slated for Limited Production

Sales of SEMA concept productions will support National Navy SEAL Museum in Florida

The Special Ops edition Silverado that made the rounds at the SEMA Show back in November has apparently struck a chord with truck fans around the country as well supporters of the U.S. Navy. Chevrolet has announced that SEMA concept will go into limited production, and proceeds will benefit the National Navy SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce, Fla.

While the pricing and the exact amount to be produce have not been disclosed, the run will be “limited” and go on sale this spring. Most noticeable on this Silverado 1500 Z71 concept is the three-tone paintjob similar to those used on 20th-century warships.

The exterior color, dubbed “Razzle Dazzle” was originally meant to disguise the speed, size and direction of United States and British vessels. This color scheme will definitely make your Chevrolet stand out, and the truck will look like it belongs at a military base.
