One
of the latest articles from Motor Trend that spotlights the
coming Silverado does a great job of stating what it takes to do a
manufacturing and building job right. These days, many entities are under a great
amount of pressure to look out for production schedules and the bottom line,
and the massive amounts of protocol that exist to release new models rapidly.
These writers recognized that the 2019 Silverado variants stood out in a major
way compared to other offerings that are similar, and benefited from a bit of
extra time spent tweaking and experimenting on the design floor.
The
Motor Trend team had a few weeks to sample three different brand new models,
each outfitted with Dynamic Fuel Management, a crew cab, and short 5-7” bed.
Their personal favorite was not surprising: the all-wheel-drive Silverado RST
equipped with the new 5.3-liter DFM V-8 makes 355 hp, and 383 lb-ft of torque,
and is mated to an 8-speed automatic. The new bodywork and cabin that the
Silverado sports are distinctive, impressive, and absolutely representative of
what any demanding truck owner wants to see after purchase regarding the
current market's options.
New
manufacturing techniques allowed for the truck bed to be a full 7 inches wider,
and the number of standard tie-downs have jumped to a total of 12. With the
5.3-liter DFM engine, the Silverado is ranked to two 2,100 pounds, and maximum
payload capacity is 2,500 pounds with the V-6. The test track is one place
where a truck can truly prove itself, and lay a solid claim to all of the
rumors that dictate what stats may or may not be when it comes to the all-important
finish line. The Silverado Trail Boss nailed down a 0 to 60 mph acceleration
time of 6.4 seconds, and the 6.2-liter equipped Silverado High Country was
undoubtedly the best at acceleration, completing the quarter in 14.4 seconds at
98.3 mph.
When
you really lay down and bury your foot into the throttle, the ten-speed
automatic is surely where it's at. Being very current and well put together, it
sounds unreal when put to the test. Extra USB ports, well-placed hidden storage
cubbies in the rear seat backs, and the way in which the Silverado can buck up
and tackle a hill are qualities that are going to shine through with extra
vigor on every single drive pending rugged destinations. This was a truck that
was built with the purveying need to be all things to all people, as even the
luxury car genre has crept up on demands made of the trucking category as of
late. Ask us about how the Z71 Off-Road Package ups the ante with its standard
inclusion on the Trail Boss: this is a model that has proven itself in terms of
long-lasting durability, horsepower provision, and class-leading truck
performance!
