Kelley Blue Book Ranks Chevy Silverado Second in Customer Consideration During Q2 2020

Fall is coming at us right around the corner here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse, and that means crisp leaves, beginning to think about holiday festivities a bit off in the distance, and deciding whether or not this is the year you get a new vehicle! Reports such as the ones generated by the experts at Kelley Blue Book are a great help in comparing the model you are looking at to others, seeing where it exceeds expectations, and discovering traits where a different trim choice may help. Our prized Chevy Silverado was once again featured on the blog, this time dominating the topic of shopper consideration.

KBB just released the findings of the Brand Watch Report for Q2 of 2020, which closely examines consumer perception and shopping behavior through buyer surveys, then ranks the models by a list of different attributes. They include driving comfort, safety, reliability, performance, and affordability. In the most recent study, the buyer consideration for the Chevy Silverado was up 23 percent, placing it squarely alongside the competition against the Ford F-150 in terms of quarterly consideration growth when comparing Q2 of 2020 to Q1.

The Silverado 1500 was ranked as the second most-considered vehicle in the study, and it is a proud and sought-after moment as this is the first time it has captured the spot. A record 35 percent of shoppers surveyed considered purchasing a pickup truck model, as strong growth in the segment still trended upwards during the last two years. New for this year, the turbo-diesel six-cylinder is now available on LT, RST, LTZ and High Country models, and the 6.2-liter V-8 and 10-speed automatic are now available on the High Country.

The trailering technology that debuted on the 2020 Silverado 2500/3500 is now available on the 1500, and also available for the 6.2-liter is a Performance Upgrade Package that sees the addition of a higher-flow air intake and cat-back exhaust, increasing horsepower from 420 to 435 and torque from 460 lb-ft to 469. The LT, LTZ, and High Country trims will also feature an adaptive cruise control system that uses a camera mounted behind the rearview mirror to make sure a safe following distance is maintained.

Driving.com's Coming-Model Comparison: 2021 Chevy Colorado Trim Descriptions

Scores of our loyal customers here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse have been alert and waiting for any truck news about new models available: Whether it's our award-winning full-size Silverado or its eager sibling in the form of the Colorado, there's heaps of great updates right around the corner. The Driving.com experts recently took a close-up look at what each trim offers you within the 2021 Colorado's lineup, from entry-level all of the ways to the souped-up top. GM founder Alfred Sloan claimed that he wanted to make a vehicle for "every purse and every purpose", and these trims were all designed with separate specifics to satisfy many types.

The WT -- Extended Cab, Crew Cab Short/Long Box: This is the trim at the entry-level of the 4, with all 3 body styles seeing availability in either 2WD or 4WD. The standard engine is the 200-hp 2.5-Liter inline-four, with the option to step up to the 306-hp V6. The 4-cylinder is paired with a six-speed transmission, and the 8-speed arrives for duty with the same.

There is a 7-inch infotainment screen that features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and this is not the least the bare-bones work truck of days past! An optional convenience package adds cruise control, keyless entry, and an easy-lift locking tailgate. Seats are cloth or vinyl, and new for 2021 is the Optional Appearance and Custom Special packages, that add extra paint to the exterior door handles and side mirrors body color.

The LT -- Extended Cab, Crew Cab Short/Long Box: This is the level that allows you to chisel in a drastic visual change, with the Chrome Appearance package option which is generous with the brightwork. The Redline Edition adds layers of dark black to the exterior and adds a set of step bars. The Convenience package brings fog lamps to the model as well as a sliding rear window and defroster and heated side mirrors. The infotainment system also sees an upgrade to an 8-inch screen with two-device Bluetooth capability.

There are also two extra USB ports and an overhead console with more interior lighting at the LT trim level. Engine options are similar to what is on the WT, except for the readier availability of the Duramax diesel to retail customers. When you do make the step up to diesel, make sure you closely check out the Trailer package, which is the key to properly and gruffly unlock the 369 lb-ft of ready-to-roll torque.

Z71 -- Extended Cab, Crew Cab Short/Long Box: This is the trim that was the true original off-road version of the Colorado, which has slowly changed itself up into a true off-roader offering a bit in the luxury department to boot. Coming to your assistance as standard equipment is an automatic locking rear differential, backed up by the Z71 off-road suspension package with hill descent control and recovery hooks.

The front bucket seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel are both heated, and the center console now features wireless charging. Residing under the hood of this trim is the 3.6-Liter V6 and 8-speed automatic, and both of the Midnight and Dusk special editions add dark aluminum wheels and an off-road sport bar that you can easily mount LED lights on. The ZR2 trim level is where many feel fully equipped to wander into the woods, but the Z71 is still a more-than-suitable starting point.

ZR2 -- Extended Cab, Crew Cab Short Box: The model that many auto publications have bestowed the "absolute trailblazer's crown" comes properly equipped with off-road technology created by the same experts who have made parts and pieces for F1 race cars. On each corner of the ZR2 are DSSV position-sensitive dampers from the superbly road-ready Multimatic company, that can properly absorb high-speed off-road action and the pleasantly reckless urge to take a jump or two.

Front and rear electronic locking differentials are standard as well as a 2-inch suspension lift, and extra underbody protection to cover the vitals from scrape damage. The 17-inch Duratrac tires offer up plenty of grip on the trail, and an electric brake controller, as well as 7-pin connector, come standard with the ZR2.

No matter what trim level you choose for your brand new Colorado truck, you will soon be lending a hand for someone to move, escaping into the wild, or just headed to the store with the ultimate working man or woman's companion!

2020 Chevy Silverado HD Lands on J.D. Powers Top 5 List

Every year, J.D. Powers digs in deep and gets straight to the business of evaluating new vehicles based strictly on the opinions of their owners. In-depth questions about quality, comfort, design, performance, and usefulness are provided, which then collects data that is the fundamental of numerous benchmark automotive industry studies. These help greatly with measuring the levels of satisfaction owners have with their new cars. The Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) study takes a look at emotion-related variables to measure how happy people are with their new vehicles, and gauge efficiency and future potential based on this satisfaction level.

Everyone here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse has experienced a certain raw breed of
excitement every year when we uncover details about the models that are coming soon, and we already know that the Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD have seen a significant boost in towing and payload capacities, boasting a 35,500 lb towing rating with 7,442 pounds of payload. The Silverado HD will be offered in a variety of cab styles and trim levels to meet the demands of a wide variety of requirements. In the ever-important engine department, the Silverado lineup includes a 6.6 liter gasoline V-8 making 401 horsepower and an available 6.6-liter turbo-diesel delivering 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque.

A 6-speed automatic manages the power for the gas engine, while the diesel is mated to a ten-speed gearbox. “Bold looks and big capabilities” are what the Car and Driver team held in the highest regard for the new model after their test spins, as well as additional passenger space and its redesigned interior. The 2500 HD model comes with a chrome grille and bumpers, LED headlights, a dampened tailgate, cloth upholstery, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

If you are thinking about heading to conquer the trails for any extended period of time, the Z71 Off-Road package brings 18-inch wheels, all terrain tires, a spray-in bedliner, upgraded suspension, and underbody protection for better capability and styling to the mix. Another favorite among Silverado buyers here is the Convenience package: here you obtain a 10-way power driver's seat, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, LED cargo-bed lighting, a leather-wrapped and heated steering wheel, remote start, and more.

The Chevy's crew-cab, short box setup offers a longer wheelbase than the previous year's model, and inside the giant center-console bin is an ideal place for any type of storage. Each Silverado comes with a touchscreen providing support for Chevy's Infotainment 3 software, which includes standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can enhance the tech offerings by adding a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen with 7-speaker Bose audio, additional power points, Sirius XM satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless charging. The infotainment system can allow users to create different trailer profiles, and control trailer functions from a smartphone app.
