Scheduled for an official market launch during the fall of 2023, the Chevy Equinox EV was the focus of a feature on the Inside EVs blog over the past week. At Mid-Missouri Powerhouse, we have been eagerly watching as the market’s current state was all-in regarding the need for an affordable and very functional, compact SUV. The “affordable” component of all this is what we think is the most attractive. The capabilities of the Ultium platform and its attractive design are still going to appeal to those who have tons of love for upper-end luxury!
There will be both retail and fleet versions, and the new model will have the availability of LT and RS trims. The instrument cluster indicates some 235 miles of range when it was situated at about ¾ charge, suggesting that the total range would be above 300 miles. Accessibility and availability to everyone is a platform that has been left far behind with many of today’s other crossover offerings, especially as electrification imposes the need for a high level of engineering prowess, testing, and development.
We are huge fans of how the EV’s exterior styling blends futuristic touches with more traditional crossover design elements. There could still be a top-level Premier trim in the works for those wanting to boost the upper-end level of appeal. Following in the very modern tire tracks of the electric Bolt hatchback and EUVs, the Equinox will see an official release date before the freshly revealed Silverado pickup. It is also suspected that a Blazer EV will be officially debuting at the same time. With the Silverado EV’s driving range boasting an estimated maximum of around 400 miles, we expect the Blazer’s to be around the 300-mile range.
New for 2022 on the Equinox is wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto availability, refreshed exterior styling, and hands-free park assist. You’ll be driving in style with a roomy five-seat interior, a user-friendly infotainment system, and standard safety features. There are also brand-new headlights, a restyled grille, refreshed bumpers, and new sporty-looking RS trim with very cool black exterior accents.
Providing an accessible form of competition for the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, the LT trim level on the current model provides the broadest array of standard and available features at a reasonable price.
