Missouri has long been known as a place that has a very deep love for trucks: we have ample lakes to have summer fun in, plenty of wooded areas for hunting, and the optional trek to two very large cosmopolitan cities to keep us occupied. There are already all different types of trim levels when it comes to the Silverado, allowing you as the buyer to customize which finished product works best for you. We had a few blogs over the year highlighting the ways in which this truck has been thoroughly revamped and restyled to deliver the ultimate in efficiency, but now the good news is that it is going to be less expensive to boot! Everyone who is looking into getting into a brand new truck understandably toils very hard for their money, and having any funds left over after a major purchase is a huge relief.
Depending on which trim level you select, the Silverado now comes available with six different options for powertrain, beginning with a 4.3-liter V6, ranging all the way up to a 3.0-liter turbodiesel, sporting a 10-speed automatic. The Work Truck trim is now on deck as the entry-level version, and as well as the Custom and Custom Trail Boss levels, they come standard with the 4.3-liter V6. Also available on all three trim levels is the 5.3-liter V8, and the RST as well as the LT are equipped with the new 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, which generates 310 horsepower, and 348 lb-ft of torque. There is also the option for a V8, promising abundant power and muscle to accomplish any demanding hauling, rigging, or recreational trip that would call for primo power.
When it comes to cars and trucks, it is definitely true that “you get what you pay for”, and when pricing is on the table, it is easy to understand that the research, engineering, design, and development are necessary components that will affect the price. A well-versed and trusty vehicle such as the Silverado is not the type that anyone would think is a member of the lower-priced battalion, and every one of us on staff here at the Powerhouse knows that every dollar counts, and have seen the effects of living costs vs wages as of late.
We also firmly believe that the pride of being an American stems from very deep layers of tradition, and great trucks like the Silverado remind us just how much back-breaking labor was necessary to build our great and very diverse nation. As the 4th of July season is now upon us, the announcement of this less expensive Work Truck trim is a seasoned salute to anyone out there that knows the feeling of going over the day's duties extensively before the sun is even up!
Car and Driver heaped the praise on the Silverado heavily, and claimed that it possessed “butch new styling, fresh engine tech, and a trusty diesel option”. Now, the wheelbase is 3.9 inches longer than the current truck's, and legroom is up from 40.9 inches to 43.8 inches. There are now two large storage bins in the rear seatbacks, and extra storage space under the rear seat bottoms. No matter which configuration you choose, every brand new Silverado gets a larger bed, boasting an extra seven inches of floor width. The brand new power-operated tailgate can be controlled by your choice of key fob or cabin-mounted button. It is exciting for all of us here at the Powerhouse to see features like lower prices for trim levels for next year's Silverado, and we hope that you stop by soon to check out the specs on Memphis's toughest truck choice, slated to be rolling in and ready by the fall!
