2019 Silverado 1500 Durabed: Segment-Leading Size and Functionality

It's peak summer season here at the Powerhouse, and looking for a vehicle that is the biggest and baddest is high on the priority list of many customers. We steer scores of people towards the right truck for them, as there are many different questions they ask to see what would work best for them. The new Silverado 1500 is going to come up quite often in conversation, because it now is the best-in-class cargo volume, box depth, box length at floor, plus class-leading 12-fixed-tie-downs. The 2019 Silverado 1500 is the most functional bed of any pickup, proudly roaring ahead of many other competitors in a category that can matter most.

The bed is the absolute heart and soul of any pickup, so several improvements were  made to the all-new Silverado to give customers a hauling experience that is more functional, and it has been so spiced up to the max, that it deserves its own name: Durabed. The short box's volume is now up to 20 percent more than any competitor's short-box, and most of that increase was achieved by widening the maximum width of the bed floor by ten percent, which was then chosen to be implemented across all three bed sizes. A very durable and capable higher grade steel is being used in the construction of Durabed as well, and the quality of the bed floor materials have improved drastically, from 340 megapascals, to 500 megapascals.

When you are on the job and need things securely fastened down, the last thing you want is to have to worry about is the dependability of your tie-downs. In the new Silverado model, each of these has doubled from 250 lbs to 500 lbs of force before bending, and an additional nine movable tie-down points are available as well for even more valuable flexibility of cargo. Tie downs are now located at different heights, to offer customers a greater amount of versatility in what they can secure and haul. The Durabed truck bed which is now standard on all 2019 Silverado 1500 models, also includes much larger cutouts in the GM-exclusive CornerStep bumpers, to better accommodate the sometimes-necessary presence of steel-toed boots.

Come check out all of the features of the upcoming 2019 Silverado with us down  here at the Powerhouse, and enjoy the benefits of a test drive during fall! The Durabed is also going to be available with integrated, in-bed LED lighting, and a 110/120 – volt power outlet. A light at the top of the rear cab now also comes standard on all Silverado models. The Standard Gate is a manual gate with no lift assist and is manually lockable with a key. The Standard Gate with Lift Assist is a stamped gate that now includes lift assist, and is manually lockable with a key. You'll also love the industry-exclusive power up/down, available on the LTZ and standard on High Country, the tailgate raises or lowers using the key fob, and is power-lockable, with lift assist, and automatic release.
