From Fresh Iron to Final Drive: Chevy’s 2027 SUVs Get Their Moment

2027 Chevy SUV

Chevrolet heads into 2027 with one of the most complete SUV lineups on the market, spanning budget friendly subcompact crossovers, spacious three row family haulers, rugged full size trucks, and a growing selection of electric models. Most nameplates return with thoughtful refinements to trim, color, and technology, while a handful of models see more noteworthy updates.

The Bolt makes a welcome return to the lineup, the gas powered Blazer steps aside for a short pause before coming back even better for 2028, and several other models pick up meaningful upgrades. Here is a closer look at everything new across the 2027 Chevrolet SUV lineup here at the Mid Missouri Powerhouse.

Blazer EV Gets Smarter Charging and Fresh Style

The 2027 Blazer EV adopts a native NACS charge port along with upgraded charge station communication technology, making it easier than ever to connect with a wide range of charging networks. Chevrolet has also reorganized its charging accessories, introducing new Charging Essentials and Premium Charging packages that bundle Level 2 and DC fast charging adapters together.

Styling gets a few tasteful updates as well. White Sands joins the exterior color palette, SS models receive new 22 inch wheels, and every trim now features a sleek gloss black shark fin antenna. Inside, the Super Cruise package adds a Bose eight speaker premium audio system, giving drivers an even richer in-cabin experience.

The Bolt Makes a Triumphant Comeback

After stepping away for a few model years, the Bolt returns for 2027 and picks up right where the beloved Bolt EUV left off. The refreshed EV features a 210 horsepower motor paired with a 65 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, delivering an EPA rated range of 262 miles, making it a smart, efficient choice for everyday driving and commuting.

Charging capability takes a major leap forward too. Peak DC fast charging speed now exceeds 150 kW, and a native NACS port provides convenient access to compatible Tesla Superchargers. The cabin also gets a technology boost with available Super Cruise and new high resolution displays.

Buyers looking for a bit more personality will appreciate the new RS trim, which brings black 17 inch wheels, RS badging, red stitched seats, and ambient lighting for a sportier feel. The Bolt continues to shine as an affordable, city friendly EV that is quick, capable, and easy to live with every day.

Equinox and Equinox EV Offer Thoughtful Refinements

The gas powered Equinox receives a handful of welcome updates for 2027. Autumn Harvest Metallic joins the color lineup, front wheel drive models transition from a CVT to a smooth shifting eight speed automatic transmission, and the available Safety and Technology package later adds Connected Cameras capability for even more driver confidence on the road.

The Equinox EV mirrors many of the Blazer EV's charging improvements, adopting a native NACS port for direct access to Tesla Superchargers while maintaining compatibility with other public and home charging options. A new Black Sport package adds a bold, athletic look, and an available eight speaker Bose audio system elevates the in cabin listening experience.

Suburban and Tahoe Deliver More Comfort and Capability

Both the Suburban and Tahoe continue building on their recent refresh with a series of comfort focused and convenience driven updates for 2027. White Sands paint joins select trims, new 20 inch high gloss black wheels become available, and RST models now include standard heated and ventilated front seats with four way power lumbar support for a more relaxing ride.

Chevrolet has also reorganized several higher end packages to make premium features more accessible. The Advanced Technology package becomes available with the Duramax diesel on additional trims, and Super Cruise now comes included with the High Country Deluxe package regardless of engine choice, giving drivers even more flexibility when building their ideal SUV.

Trailblazer and Trax Stay Dependable With Room to Grow

The 2027 Trailblazer is expected to carry over largely unchanged, continuing to offer the same dependable powertrain lineup that drivers already know and trust, along with minor trim and color adjustments. It remains a smart, versatile choice for buyers seeking a capable subcompact SUV.

The Trax, meanwhile, may be in line for a midcycle refresh, with early indications pointing toward updated exterior styling and a revised instrument panel. Full details will be confirmed as Chevrolet officially unveils the 2027 model, but the popular subcompact SUV looks poised to build on its strong reputation for value and everyday usability.

Traverse Adds Fresh Style Inside and Out

The 2027 Traverse picks up a handful of cosmetic and convenience updates to keep its family friendly formula feeling fresh. Twilight Blue and Trillium Green Metallic join the paint palette, while Z71, High Country, and RS trims each receive newly designed wheels. LT models gain access to attractive new 20 inch wheel options, and an available interior camera adds an extra layer of convenience for keeping an eye on passengers.

The Blazer Takes a Well Earned Pause

The gas powered Blazer is set to take a short break for the 2027 model year as Chevrolet prepares to shift production to its Spring Hill, Tennessee plant. Rather than disappearing for good, the Blazer is simply pausing so it can return in even better form. Chevrolet has confirmed the SUV will come back as a new and improved 2028 model, with production expected to begin in May 2027, giving fans plenty to look forward to.

A Lineup Ready for Every Journey

From the budget conscious Trax to the family ready Traverse and the rugged, capable Tahoe and Suburban, the 2027 Chevrolet SUV lineup continues to offer something for nearly every kind of driver. With the Bolt back in the fold and thoughtful updates spread across the rest of the lineup, there has never been a better time to explore what Chevrolet has to offer.

The next adventure starts with the right SUV. Stop by the Powerhouse today to check out the 2027 lineup, explore the latest updates, and find a Chevy built for wherever the road leads!

The Blazer Went From Backcountry Brawler to Daily Driver. And It Works.

2026 Chevy Blazer

Few Chevrolet nameplates have undergone a transformation quite like the Blazer. Once known for classic SUV toughness and V8-powered capability, the Blazer has grown into a modern midsize SUV designed around comfort, technology, efficiency, and everyday versatility. The latest generation carries that legendary name forward while adapting it to the needs of today's drivers.

For Chevrolet shoppers, that evolution is a success story. The modern Blazer demonstrates how an iconic nameplate can embrace new engineering without losing the confidence and character that made Chevrolet SUVs so popular in the first place here at the Mid Missouri Powerhouse.

The 2026 Chevrolet Blazer is especially compelling for drivers looking for an SUV that fits naturally into daily life. Its modern unibody construction, refined road manners, practical size, and straightforward mechanical design create an appealing balance for commuters, families, and anyone who wants a stylish SUV that is easy to enjoy.

The Blazer's Wild Evolution Started With a Classic

The Chevrolet SUV story stretches back decades. As competition increased, Chevrolet developed SUVs that combined truck-inspired capability with greater efficiency and everyday usability. The K5 Blazer and GMC Jimmy helped establish the formula, while later models continued adapting to changing customer expectations.

The 1980s brought another important chapter with the Chevrolet S-10 Blazer. Smaller dimensions and more efficient engines made SUVs increasingly appealing to drivers who wanted utility without stepping into a full-size truck-based vehicle.

At the same time, the crossover SUV began gaining momentum. Drivers wanted the elevated seating position, cargo flexibility, and versatility of an SUV while also looking for the comfort and driving characteristics associated with passenger cars.

Chevrolet recognized that shift and continued developing SUVs around refinement, efficiency, and family-friendly practicality.

When SUVs Became Everyday Vehicles

The evolution from traditional body-on-frame SUVs to modern crossovers changed what drivers expected from their vehicles.

Unibody construction, front-wheel-drive configurations, smaller engines, and more efficient transmissions helped create SUVs that were comfortable and efficient enough for daily commuting while still providing the versatility drivers wanted.

The Blazer is a great example of that evolution.

The modern Chevrolet Blazer is built around the idea that an SUV can be exciting without requiring a truck-based foundation. It offers a refined driving experience, useful interior space, modern technology, and a distinctive exterior design that gives it plenty of personality.

For today's Chevrolet customer, that is an important combination. A vehicle can be ready for the Monday commute and still look right at home on a weekend getaway.

The 2026 Blazer Brings Chevrolet Spirit Into the Modern Era

The current Blazer is a midsize two-row crossover that blends comfort with the confident character expected from Chevrolet. Its unibody architecture supports a smooth, responsive driving experience while its midsize dimensions make it practical for everyday use.

The result is an SUV that feels thoroughly modern while still carrying a name with serious Chevrolet history behind it.

That is part of the appeal. The Blazer does not attempt to recreate the past. Instead, it takes the spirit of the original and translates it into a vehicle designed for today's roads and lifestyles.

The transformation also makes the Blazer especially appealing to drivers who want something more expressive than a traditional family crossover. Its design gives it a strong road presence, while its interior and chassis are engineered around the realities of everyday driving.

A Smart Balance of Performance and Efficiency

One of the biggest advantages of modern Chevrolet engineering is the ability to deliver useful performance without relying on the oversized engines and heavy-duty components associated with earlier generations of SUVs.

The Blazer's modern mechanical approach is part of that story. Its engineering is designed to provide a strong balance between responsive performance, efficiency, comfort, and long-term usability.

For drivers spending time on St. Louis-area roads, that balance can make the Blazer a particularly appealing choice. It has the size and presence expected from a midsize SUV while remaining well suited to commuting, errands, family activities, and highway travel.

The Ownership Story Is Just as Important

Buying an SUV is only the beginning. Drivers also want a vehicle that makes sense over the years.

The 2026 Chevrolet Blazer brings several advantages to the ownership experience. Its mechanical components are designed around established automotive technology, while Chevrolet's extensive dealer and service network provides convenient access to professional maintenance.

That network is particularly valuable for Chevrolet owners. From routine maintenance to more specialized service, having knowledgeable technicians and genuine Chevrolet parts readily available can make keeping a vehicle in top condition more convenient.

The Blazer also strikes an appealing balance between its size, performance, and ongoing operating considerations. Its midsize dimensions provide useful space without moving into the larger SUV category.

A Midsize SUV With Big Chevrolet Personality

The modern Blazer proves that evolution does not mean abandoning tradition.

The original Blazer helped define an era when SUVs were rugged, adventurous, and unapologetically truck-like. Today's Blazer takes those ideas in a different direction, emphasizing modern comfort, responsive handling, efficiency, and everyday versatility.

That does not make the latest Blazer less of a Chevrolet. It makes it a Chevrolet designed for a different generation of drivers.

For customers who spend most of their time on pavement, a modern crossover architecture makes perfect sense. The Blazer provides the elevated driving position and utility expected from an SUV while adding the refinement needed for daily transportation.

Why the Blazer Deserves a Spot on the Shopping List

The 2026 Chevrolet Blazer occupies an appealing position in the Chevrolet SUV lineup. It offers more presence and space than the smaller Chevrolet SUVs while delivering a more manageable footprint than the brand's larger offerings.

Its ownership profile is also competitive within the midsize SUV segment. The Blazer has been projected to have maintenance and repair expenses that remain in line with key competitors, while its extensive Chevrolet service network adds another layer of convenience.

For shoppers who want a midsize SUV that blends style, comfort, practicality, and Chevrolet character, the Blazer checks a lot of important boxes.

And perhaps the best part of its evolution is that the name still means something.

The Chevrolet Blazer has gone from rugged V8-powered trail machine to sophisticated modern crossover, but the core idea remains familiar. It is an SUV built to give drivers confidence, versatility, and a distinctly Chevrolet experience.

V-6 Muscle and Smart Tech: The Chevy Blazer’s State-of-The-Art Power Play

2025 Chevy Blazer

As streaming channels turn to horror-themed events and spooky costumes line the retail shelves, there's soon to be a distinct change in the air! The
2025 Chevrolet Blazer is one of our flashy and fun models here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse. It turns heads with its Camaro-inspired design and sharp handling, delivering a driving experience that matches its bold looks.

Sleek Design Meets Modern Performance:

The 2025 Blazer stands out in the midsize SUV segment, competing with models like the Honda Passport, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Mazda CX-5. It may not be the newest in Chevy’s lineup, but its striking, aggressive design has aged well. From its sleek LED headlights to its bold honeycomb grille, this SUV oozes confidence and style. The blacked-out roof and high spoiler complete the look, giving it a low-slung, sporty vibe that's hard to ignore.

Inside, the Blazer offers a stylish cabin, highlighted by an 11-inch touchscreen that sits prominently on the dash. The trio of round air vents and the additional physical buttons make the interior both functional and intuitive, with a refreshing focus on user-friendly controls. While its five-seat configuration doesn't include a third row, the spacious cabin and decent cargo area ensure plenty of room for passengers and gear alike.

Where Power Meets Precision:

The 2025 Blazer comes with two engine options. The base 2.0-liter turbo-4 offers decent around-town acceleration, but the real asphalt-conquering magic happens when you upgrade to the 308-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6.

With its strong acceleration, this engine transforms the Blazer into a true performer, cutting the 0-60 mph sprint down to just six seconds. Paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, the Blazer offers a firm yet comfortable ride, making it an ideal companion for city streets and long highways.

Front-wheel drive comes standard, but for those seeking more control, all-wheel drive is available. The V-6 models take things up a notch with a twin-clutch rear differential that enhances grip on all surfaces, delivering a confident and exhilarating driving experience.

Safety & Tech Features for Peace of Mind:

Safety is a priority in the Blazer, with its five-star NHTSA crash rating and a robust suite of safety technologies. Standard features include automatic emergency braking, lane control, blind-spot monitoring, and rear parking sensors.

For valuable extra assurance, optional upgrades like a surround-view camera system and rear camera mirror improve rear visibility, especially given the Blazer’s somewhat limited rearward view. While adaptive cruise control remains an add-on rather than standard, the Blazer’s safety package still places it in a competitive position within its class.

Trim Options & Pricing

The base 2LT trim includes a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, and a large 10.2-inch touchscreen equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. But for those who crave more power and premium features, stepping up to the RS or Premier trims is well worth it. The RS delivers a sportier look with dark exterior accents and bold red stitching inside, while the Premier trim adds a touch of luxury with its tan leather seating and chrome details.

The Final Word:

The 2025 Chevrolet Blazer is more than just an SUV with striking looks—it offers a balanced blend of power, style, and tech that will excite savvy buyers. While its base engine is adequate, the V-6 provides the punch needed to elevate it into a league of its own. Combine that with a spacious cabin, advanced tech, and robust safety features, and the Blazer emerges as a top choice for drivers who want an SUV that redefines excellence.

Consumer Reports Praises 2022 Chevy Blazer as Recommended Vehicle

Consumer Reports
just gave the 2022 Chevy Blazer a recommended rating, finishing with a test score of 83 out of 100, including a predicted reliability rating of four out of five. With safety as your main concern, you’ll also be happy to see that forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking are both now standard equipment.

Brandishing 27 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg overall, the Blazer earned extra praise for its powertrain and drivetrain. This is also a very quiet ride, with sound cancelling controls making the top of the Consumer Reports list as well. The Blazer saw its resurrection as a nameplate during 2019, exciting many who remembered its go-anywhere spirit and unique flair.

The 2022 Chevy Blazer now rides on the GM C1 platform. This year’s model features the Enhanced Convenience Package available for the Premier trim and the available trailering package with base engine. The Blazer has two rows of seating and is the perfect choice for anyone looking for a great-looking and tech-savvy SUV.

Acceleration and passing power with the base turbo engine are more than adequate, and it pairs ideally with the Blazer’s ultra-sharp handling and on-point braking. The 308-horsepower V6 is where the thrill-seekers will want to go, and where the sheer enjoyment in the daily drive will shine through. Situated just in between the Equinox and the Traverse, many growing families will love how the Blazer has a bit more room than a compact crossover, but is not quite as large as three-row SUVs. The standard 8-inch infotainment system hits all the right notes and is remarkably intuitive.

Standard features for the base LT model include this 8-inch infotainment screen, Amazon Alexa, and a Wi-Fi hotspot, dual-zone climate control, an HD backup camera, and the Chevy Assist Package. This includes the very useful additions of automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking, lane-keeping assist with lane-departure warning, a following-distance indicator, forward-collision alert, and automatic high-beams.

Chevy Blazer Tops J.D. Power's Seat Satisfaction Survey

The Chevy Blazer was recently honored as a top pick in the J.D. Power 2021 U.S. Seat Quality And Satisfaction Study. This study ranks vehicles based on how consumers rate the comfort of their seats.

To complete this study, J.D. Power surveyed 110,827 customers who had just purchased or leased the a 2021 model year vehicle and asked them to provide a seat rating based on ergonomics, comfort level, and the perceived quality of manufacturing. The responses were used to score each vehicle based on the problems reported per 100 vehicles, with a lower score meaning a higher seat quality. The seats in the Blazer had an average of just 6.1 complaints per 100 vehicles, rendering them the best-performing seats in the large SUV category.

These seats are proudly manufactured in the United States by Southfield, Michigan-based supplier Lear Corporation. They are more durable and outperform the alternative cloth upholstery during many tests that measure back and leg circulation along with drive-time posture. Viable leather alternatives have evolved to a point where they can be used without sacrificing customer experience and possess a unique comfort all their own.

Reintroduced two years ago, the Blazer is now a midsize crossover, situated comfortably just between the Equinox and Traverse in Chevy’s lineup. Proving itself right away as one of the top-selling models in its segment, it will receive a mid-cycle enhancement for the 2023 model year with updated interior and exterior styling, and a complete refresh of its technology features. Production for next year’s model started this week, and test models in light camouflage have already been spotted!

The model spotted was the Premier trim with black paint and black-and-white camo to obscure the revised styling underneath. It sported a new front fascia along with revisions to the grille and front lighting elements. On top of being the most comfortable seating, we also expect a larger infotainment screen and an improved center stack design.

2020 Chevy Blazer vs. 2020 Chevy Equinox Head-to-Head Comparison via CarConnection.com

There are some very informed and decisive shoppers out there that make it look simple to choose a new crossover SUV. This size, that brand – and they are finished! While we have encountered many like that right here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse, we also understand that the selection process takes time for many, and listening to top authorities such as the staff of TheCarConnection.com can help when it comes down to the all-important comparison time. This week they ran a feature that pitted the 2020 Chevy Blazer up against the 2020 Chevy Equinox, two SUVs with some similarities but also with some unique character traits.

The 2020 Blazer sees the ushering in of a new turbo-4 cylinder in this second year on sale after its strong 2019 revival. The 2020 Equinox is a bit smaller on the outside and does not possess quite as much a sporty and aggressive stance. Where size usually matters most in a family crossover is in the especially important category of rear-seat and cargo space, and the two are neck-and-neck in that race. The Blazer has 30.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind its sliding second-row seat, and 64.2 cubic feet when the back bench is folded down. The Equinox is 30 and 63.9 cubic feet respectively, only a few boxes of groceries less in all.

The Blazer sees a much broader stance, and the second-row seats slide resulting in greater passenger and cargo space, but the Equinox has better quality front seats overall. However, there is no sliding second row and a bit narrower of a body that is best for three children across the back. The Premier trim level is what gives both the ritziest feel and the Equinox is the one of the pair that sees automatic emergency braking as standard.

This review states that within the realms of safety and space, the Equinox is probably the better choice. The Blazer sees some incredibly positive points for sheer style, and the 308-horsepower V6 when RS spec is chosen. An overall edgier shape and sporty interior makes the Equinox seem more family-oriented right off the bat and gives anyone on the hunt for some excitement in their daily drive a heightened reason to make the decision to purchase. The Equinox does outpace the Blazer in fuel economy, by a total of up to 5 mpg combined.
Both the Blazer and Equinox see touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and you can step up with leather, heated seats, big wheels, bigger horsepower stats, and more luxurious interiors. Concluding their thoughts between how the two cars differ and which one may be right for you it was noted that the Blazer’s wing like dash and jaunty body are standouts, but the Equinox may lean a bit heavier into practical and settled down territory. The staff on duty at Edmunds.com praised the Blazer for its “refined ride quality” and “amazingly agile handling”, and subsequently hailed the Equinox for great mileage, solid handling, and safety features that were cranked up a notch.

MSN Autos Deems 2020 Chevy Blazer “Head-Turning, Well-Connected, and Sporty”

Introduced in 1969  as a full-size 2-door utility vehicle, the Blazer was on sale for 3 generations as a large off-road capable truck. There are many consumers out there that were longing for the glory and go-anywhere capability of the Blazer, and they were happy to hear that it had been reinvented with a modern design, ultra-comfortable ride, and the very latest in high-tech features. The troupe from MSN Autos test drove the Blazer Premier AWD, painted in midnight Blue Metallic and equipped with many standard features as well as the Driver Confidence II Package.

The testing crew had great appreciation for the fact that the design of this crossover is far from anything boxy, and that the sloping hood as well as downward-flowing roofline helps the Blazer appear sleek and aggressive. Up front, the Blazer wears narrow HID headlights with LED running lights that do a good job of setting it apart from so many other options seen on the road. The LED taillights in the rear sport a very unique pattern, and the integrated exhaust is another trait that results in a very clean and polished look.
Once inside, the Blazer's HD color touchscreen is well-integrated with very easy-to-use controls, and the group had no issues at all with the Android Auto integration. All of the climate controls are kept separate, and the MSN Auto crew agreed that the way everything was laid out was a great example of modern functionality in a finite space. There are USB and USB – C ports front and center, as well as a wireless cellphone charging pad and large amount of overall storage space. This particular crew drove to the Washington Coast on a cold, wet winter day, and appreciated the automatic heated seats and steering wheel for added comfort.

The 2020 Blazer cargo area has enough room for multiple suitcases as well as any other cargo needed for a few days on the road, and the onboard cargo management system has a cargo fence as well as tracks that allow you to place it anywhere. This feature is very handy when only loaded half full with cargo, and rear seats can be moved forward to make room for things like a good old fashioned football tailgate!

You can even open the tailgate by swiping a foot through the Chevy bowtie projection on the ground, and a centrally-located dial is where you select from 2 or 4-wheel drive. Ask us here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse during a test drive about AWD traction: this group said they took the blazer out on a Washington beach during winter conditions, and easily took 30 mph turns in the sand in very mushy washout. The new Blazer has a few styling cues taken from the Camaro, has gained many great reviews on test drives such as this, and is surely destined to be at the top of everyone’s Valentine’s wish list for 2020!

New Atlas Ranks 2019 Blazer as “Upscale, Confident, and Exciting”

As the reports and various auto news outlets online confirmed that the Blazer surely was coming back last year, all of us here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse instantly became excited. When more spy shots became available it was evident that heavy styling cues were taken from the Camaro, and as soon as the Blazer hit showrooms, it gained massive attention. It is not quite the same Blazer's personality and flair from the 1990s, and resides in the sweet spot between the smaller Equinox and larger Traverse.

Auto writer Aaron Turpen of New Atlas took a lengthy spin and claimed that the very comfortable ride, excellent infotainment system, and stately drive quality were all traits that swayed him off the bat to give the Blazer very high marks. The trim selection begins with the base level “L”, then on up to Blazer, with the highest being RS and Premier. Engine choices are the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that cranks out 193 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque, while higher trim levels derive power from a 3.6-liter 6-cylinder engine that doles out 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. The nine-speed automatic transmission handles shifting duty, and all-wheel-drive is an option with the two top trim levels.

The New Atlas group had the pleasure of driving the 2019 Blazer equipped with the top-of-the-line Premier package, which includes forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and pedestrian detection. They reflected that the 3.6-liter engine offered up aggressive performance straight from the line and that the drive quality and handling were excellent by current standards. Tech lovers are going to feel right at home with the Blazer's four USB ports as well as top-notch infotainment system. Aaron claimed that this infotainment system was also his “favorite in the business”, due to very responsive touch, and extras such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

With the towing equipment installed and V6 engine, the Blazer can lug a very impressive 4,500 lbs, and the gang's overall report was that after a few lengthy test drives that this is a vehicle with a satisfying and comfortable drive, A+ interior, and practical daily drive dynamic. Coming with the 2020 model will be a turbocharged 4-cylinder option, and we hope that we can see you here this fall to test drive and rank the Blazer for your own opinion's sake!
As we take a moment to remember our favorite Blazers through the years, one of the models we loved most was the S-10 Blazer from 1982: offered in a two-door body style, this was warmly referred to many times over as the “Drummer's choice”. Many percussionists found great usefulness in the hybrid of large car and truck, as well as ample storage space for their equipment. We will share with you more in-depth reviews and test drive experiences with the new Blazer as they continue to find their way into our newswires, and can't wait for you to come to check out closely just how feature-rich and performance-driven the new Blazer is!
