Space, Safety, Style: The Chevy Equinox Is Built for Real Life

2026 Chevrolet Equinox

The
Chevrolet Equinox has become one of the brand’s cornerstone SUVs, balancing everyday usability with modern technology and a confident design. Since its debut in 2005, the Equinox has continually evolved, and the latest 2026 model builds on that legacy with fresh styling, updated features, and more refinement inside and out.

Positioned between the smaller Trailblazer and the midsize Blazer, it’s an attractive option in the highly competitive compact SUV segment, rivaling well-known names like the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Nissan Rogue here at the Mid Missouri Powerhouse.

What’s New for 2026

Chevrolet has fine-tuned the Equinox lineup with thoughtful updates. A new Polar White exterior shade joins the color palette, while all trims now come with a standard drive mode selector dial for added adaptability. For the LT trim, roof rails are now exclusive to the Midnight Edition, refining its appearance and equipment offerings.

Technology and Connectivity

One of the standout features of the 2026 Equinox is its advanced infotainment system. Built on Google technology, the interface is intuitive and seamless, making it easy to access navigation, entertainment, and vehicle settings. The system also supports Apple CarPlay, a welcome feature for those who prefer familiar smartphone integration. With large, crisp displays and a clean layout, the cabin feels both modern and user-friendly.

Performance and Efficiency

Under the hood, every Equinox is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers up to 175 horsepower. Paired with either front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive, it provides plenty of confidence for daily driving, highway cruising, and tackling less predictable road conditions. Torque figures range from 184 lb-ft with FWD to 203 lb-ft with AWD, offering solid versatility for a compact SUV.

Efficiency remains an important part of the Equinox’s appeal. Depending on configuration, fuel economy reaches up to an estimated 28 mpg on the highway, ensuring that drivers can enjoy longer stretches between fill-ups. With gas tank sizes ranging from 14.8 to 15.6 gallons, the driving range extends past 400 miles in certain versions, an advantage for those who cover more ground.

Safety and Driver Assistance

Chevy Safety Assist, the brand’s comprehensive suite of driver-assist technologies, comes standard across the Equinox lineup. This package includes automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Other standard features add peace of mind, such as blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, and rear emergency braking.

For those seeking even more advanced safety, available upgrades include a surround-view camera system, rear pedestrian alert, and traffic sign recognition. These enhancements make navigating busy environments and unfamiliar roads more confident and stress-free.

Comfort and Interior Versatility

Inside, the Equinox emphasizes space and comfort, with nearly 40 inches of rear-seat legroom that competes strongly against leading rivals. The cabin is thoughtfully arranged, offering plenty of headroom and supportive seating for both front and rear passengers. Cargo capacity measures up to 63.5 cubic feet with the rear seats folded, leaving room for luggage, outdoor gear, or a family’s weekly errands.

A variety of premium amenities can be equipped to elevate the experience even further. Options include ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a wireless charging pad, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. Combined with smart cabin packaging, these features ensure the Equinox feels as accommodating on long road trips as it does on quick commutes.

Trim Levels and Choices

For 2026, the Chevrolet Equinox is available in three trims: LT, Activ, and RS. Each offers its own blend of style, comfort, and technology, allowing drivers to select a model that best matches their lifestyle. Whether it’s the versatile LT, the rugged-leaning Activ, or the sport-inspired RS, every version delivers the practicality and refinement that have made the Equinox one of Chevrolet’s best-selling vehicles.

The Bottom Line

The 2026 Chevrolet Equinox is designed to check all the right boxes for today’s SUV shoppers. It delivers confident performance, strong fuel efficiency, and a well-equipped interior filled with advanced technology and safety features. With its fresh design, versatile trims, and focus on comfort and connectivity, the Equinox stands ready to meet the needs of families, commuters, and adventurers alike.

If you’ve been gradually thinking every compact SUV feels the same, the 2026 Chevy Equinox is your wake-up call! With sleek styling, seamless Google-built infotainment, and a cabin loaded with thoughtful details, this SUV redefines what it means to drive connected and in control. Why not see what all the buzz is about? Stop in for a test drive and experience the Equinox’s perfect blend of modern tech and timeless comfort firsthand.

Ready, Set, Assemble: 2025 Chevy Equinox Production Dates Revealed

Staying glued to the news on the web has always provided us with the “early bird’s scoop” here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse, where we have just learned of another thrilling looming deadline! Full-on representing a thrilling new stance upon its official debut, the 2025 Chevy Equinox will now make public its exciting changes to the exterior styling, interior appointment, and amazing high-tech features. GM Authority has now learned when our favorite new-gen compact crossover is expected to launch.

Official production for the 2025 model is expected to resume on May 20th, 2024. The current 2024 Equinox is scheduled for conclusion on May 18th, 2023. The facility at GM San Luis Potosl plant is transitioning towards EV-only production, with models such as the Equinox and Blazer poised at the forefront. The all-new 2025 Equinox will stun buyers with an exterior design more aligned with our progressive language, including its signature two-tire “highbrow” headlights. In the rear, a set of horizontally oriented taillights are situated, alongside sharp & aggressive dual exhaust outlets.

The interior has undergone a very thorough overhaul and features better ergonomics. The space boasts a sense of practicality, and the new digital gauge cluster is poised directly behind the new steering wheel. The Infotainment system already was ranked as awesome up against the competition, but the 2025 model sports an entirely new version. There are new active safety features along with the convenient and game-changing GM Super Cruise technology. Specific powertrain details are not quite yet on the table, but we expect the 2025 Equinox to arrive with a small displacement turbocharged variant.

The Motor Trend team claimed that this will most likely be the year to say goodbye to the 2024 model’s base 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, with an 8.0-inch model or larger on all base LS’s. Most trims are expected to step into the coming of spring with a larger display of around 11 inches. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay should be part of the picture, along with physical knobs and buttons to assure that things remain simple. Edmunds.com praised the incoming Equinox for its “premium look inside and out, strong optional V6 engine, quiet interior, and comfortable highway ride.”

Facing off directly with the likes of the Mazda CX50 and Honda CRV, the Equinox has long staked its claim by delivering intense bang for the hard-earned buck. Last earmarked the additions of riptide blue and Lakeshore blue color choices, along with a revision of the Driver Confidence II Package. This will now see the addition of blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, along with availability on the base LS trim. The Car and Driver review team was thrilled with the 2024 Equinox’s competent handling and incredibly accurate and very direct steering quality.

The Equinox boasts a 3500-lb towing capacity, along with a nicely-styled cabin and many interior luxuries. Every Equinox is available with a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot, and the model has earned a 5-star rating from the NHTSA. Some of the Equinox’s safety features include standard forward collision warning, automated emergency braking, standard lane departure warning and lane keeping assist, and available adaptive cruise control. There is always the possibility of brand-new hybrid powertrains joining the mix, and we are thrilled to keep everyone informed here on the blog of any updates or other pertinent NYE details!

Powerhouse’s “Summer of the Sensible Driver” Future Watch: Chevy Equinox Overhaul Coming for 2025

Many of the drivers we talk to during the summer months here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse are looking for a practical, economical crossover that is still loaded with current features and looks great.

The Chevy Equinox will soon be receiving a complete overhaul, with the 2025 model year enjoying the milestone of the crossover’s fourth generation. There is a long list of awesome updates and changes, and the hard-working media pros on duty at GM Authority rounded up the most vital intelligence for one of their latest blog posts.

The trim level lineup will remain the same as currently, with the LS, LT, RS, and Premier along with the potential for a new off-road Activ or Z71 arriving soon in the ranks. The styling will be completely overhauled, offering brand-new wheels, a more upright greenhouse, and a front end with Chevy’s signature two-tier “highbrow” headlights. These are like what is seen on the Equinox’s relatives in the form of the Blazer and Traverse, and dual exhaust outlets along with horizontally oriented taillights are on tap as the rear fixtures.

Inside, things will be even more comfortable and ergonomically ideal, and a new digital gauge cluster will be situated directly behind the wheel. GM Authority also reports that there will be a new infotainment system with a larger infotainment screen, along with new active safety features and the revolutionary hands-free GM Super Cruise system. Front-wheel drive will be standard with all-wheel drive optional, and the gas engine will be paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The 2025 Equinox will ride on the GM D2-2 platform, which is like the GM D2 platform currently under the 2023 model.

At a glance, it looks like Chevy is following the trend of boxier, more rugged SUV designs, with still a bit of room left for the unique flavor of the Equinox EV to claim its own persona within the lineup. There is a possibility that there may be a brand-new powertrain in the mix for the Equinox, and currently, it stands with the 1.5-liter 4-cylinder making 175 horsepower for all trim levels. This year’s model, you can check out and test drive this summer here at the Powerhouse, received praise from Edmunds.com for its stable and precise handling, along with its very intuitive infotainment system and the addition of Midnight and Sport edition packages as options.

There is absolutely no shortage of appealing small SUVs on the market, it takes some polished chops and personable appeal to stand out in a crowded field. Stylish design with flowing surface lines, standard LED headlights and a classic front-end look offer a bit more polished yet edgy feel that will appeal to those on the hunt for their post-graduation set of wheels. The Midnight and Sport packages both provide the sweet bundle of gloss black wheels and blacked-out exterior trim, and the Safety and Infotainment package adds a larger touchscreen along with adaptive cruise control.

The Premier trim takes things up to a well-equipped and on-the-town-ready level with 18-inch wheels, a hands-free liftgate, very cool ambient cabin lighting, a wireless charging pad, a 120-volt power outlet, an 8-inch touchscreen, an upgraded backup camera, leather upholstery, front and rear parking sensors, and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning. During the JD Power auto satisfaction survey for 2023, the Equinox ranked #2 in satisfaction for its class with its higher fuel economy than average, and stellar experience of using voice assistance on the road.

2022 Chevy Equinox Undergoes Sizzling Summer Price Reduction to Jumpstart June Excitement

Here at the Mid Missouri Powerhouse during the hot months of summer, we know full well that you have a lot of expenses piling up! Picnics, keeping the kids and rest of the family entertained, and handing out cash whenever anyone wants to go miniature golfing or gas money for the lake was not quite the relaxing month of June you had planned on! Thanks to the many incentives that Chevy wants for customers over the summer, we are offering interest-free financing for up to 60 months on the compact crossover, and “sign and drive” leases for the 2022 Equinox FWD LT!

During June we completely understand that everyone needs a little financial push, and we're standing by to help make sure that you drive away and get a current and economical SUV that is perfect for your family’s needs. Purchase offers for a 2022 Equinox now offer a $1,250 cash allowance, and for financing on the same, you’ll receive the benefit of 0 percent APR for up to 60 months through GM Financial. On the leasing end, the 2022 Equinox FWD LT is being allotted $299 for 36 months, while enjoying the ultra-low mileage lease with 10,000 miles annually.

The Equinox is enjoying its mid-cycle refresh for the fifth model year of the third-generation compact crossover, which includes a long list of changes and updates such as brand-new paint colors, the ultimate in style enhancements, and the arrival of the sporty RS trim level. For 2022, the Base L trim level was dropped, with the LS now in the position of entry-level trim and RS being added just above the LT. You’ll be constantly enjoying a roomy five-seat interior, a user-friendly infotainment system, and an excellent assortment of safety features.

The Equinox’s infotainment system now supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the addition of Hands-Free Park Assist. The Equinox has quite a bit in common with its corporate cousin in the form of the GMC Terrain: the cabin is Sturdy and well put-together, and it muffles a good amount of road and wind noise at higher speeds. Where we know that the Equinox will be a huge summer hit right here at the Powerhouse is by seeing its Infotainment system in action: the standard 7-inch and 8-inch touchscreens are simply laid out but very responsive, and their positioning makes them a snap to see and adjust during the drive.

Additional standard available features are keyless entry and push-button start, and the ideal warm-weather and visual enjoyment of a panoramic sunroof. The cargo space is at 29.9 cubic feet of space behind its rear seats, and 63.9 cubic feet with these seats folded… this is enough room for a couple of ready-to-rock mountain bikes, a large amount of camping gear, or a few XXL and weekend-ready tools from Home Depot. For each trip to the fun park or any sporting event, the Equinox has two complete sets of LATCH connectors for the rear outboard seats and a tether anchor for rear middle seat security.

Chevy Tahoe and Equinox Hailed With Addition to List of Most Reliable Cars for Families in 2020

Here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse we are excited about the Tahoe and Equinox: Both made U.S. News and World Report's list of the Most Reliable Cars for Families in 2020. Just a small dose of the criteria was that these vehicles have a user-friendly infotainment system, advanced safety features, and a very spacious interior. Most importantly, they should be dependable, and the 2020 Chevy Tahoe is a full-size SUV that can comfortably accommodate 8 or 9 occupants depending on the model you choose, and boasts 94.7 cubic feet of cargo.
U.S. News and World Report writer Kevin Linder highlighted the fact that the 2020 Chevy Tahoe now boasts a perfect predicted reliability rating of five out of five, which only a very small handful of new vehicles on the road today can boast. Also earning this 5 out of 5 reliability rating is the 2020 Chevy Equinox, the stylish crossover with room for five, and a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds when properly equipped. The 2020 Chevy Equinox fuel ratings also help you and your family conquer the more open road.

Both vehicles have great crash test ratings, as well as a good list of standard safety technologies like pre-collision braking and lane-keeping assist. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2020 Equinox a 5-star Overall Safety Rating, once again clarifying that it is situated at the top as far as family use. The Equinox also saw a high level of praise from Car and Driver, due to its spry driving demeanor, high efficiency, and ample space for cargo and passengers. Make sure to check out the Midnight Edition Package: it is new on LT models and blacks out just about everything, giving it a certain sense of commanding charm and mystery.
Available with either rear or all-wheel drive the Tahoe is based on the underpinnings of the Chevy Silverado pickup. This results in good qualities regarding ground clearance and towing capability, and this vehicle offers up comfortable seating for 8. If you want to step up to a bit more raw power and aggression, Premier trims for the Tahoe is where you get to score the 6.2-liter V8. The testing model that the Car and Driver staff got their hands on made it from zero to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds through this burlier engine, and all-wheel-drive models now boast a max tow rating of 8400 pounds.

You can’t go wrong with the vehicle that has its own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the Suburban is in most ways the better choice for someone with more cargo or people they are driving around. We proudly stand behind our warranty options: The Limited warranty covers 3 years or 36,000 miles, powertrain warranty covers 5 years or 60,000 miles, and complimentary maintenance is covered on the first visit.

2022 Chevy Equinox Praised by Kelley Blue Book for “Sporty Aesthetic and Very Handsome Design”

As Memorial Day is upon us once again here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse, we most can attest that we have had a stranger and “confining” spring season than usual! As things begin to open up and families are out and about picking what vehicle would work best for them, we always have taken stride in finding out what the experts at online portals such as Kelley Blue Book have to say about how models perform in the long run.

This past week they took a close-up look at the 2022 Chevy Equinox, and immediately reflected that its standard active safety systems and 3,500-lb towing capacity were huge positive traits. New for this year are revised front and rear fascia’s, the sporty and aggressive RS trim added to the lineup, and the addition of a button to disable engine start/stop system. The standard 170-horsepower 1.5-liter is rendered by the review team here as adequate for daily needs, and if you wish there is the choice to upgrade to the 2.0-liter Turbo-4, cranking out 257 horses.

This is the brand we love to represents' best-selling SUV and sees massive competition in the forms of the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Ford Escape. It is known for its ample interior room, handsome design, and attractive price that does a fine job of undercutting competitors. Automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist are two of our favorite active safety features included on board, and higher trim levels offer adaptive cruise control. The control is based on information from powerful sensors that allow the vehicle to engage the brakes when it detects you are approaching another vehicle ahead, then gradually accelerate again when the flow of traffic is favorable.

The Kelley Blue Book staff suggests getting the AWD if you choose the 2.0-liter turbo, as this is where you avoid the sensation of the steering wheel enduring a tugging under hard acceleration. The ride is on the soft end of the spectrum for what any crossover would expect to have, and there is now a great solution for a past problem: it is now possible to defeat the idle start/stop system with the simple press of a button. Every new Equinox also includes a suite of active safety features such as forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and IntelliBeam automatic headlights.

Don’t forego your chance to check out the top-end Premier model as it now evokes upper-end style with French stitching, and RS models stand out on top with dark 19-inch wheels, a gloss black grille, and blacked-out badging with other elements. The Premier trim is where you get to enjoy the upper-end dash of the larger 8-inch touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, and hands-free power liftgate on deck to properly get the job done! As seen here there may be a slight delay in delivery, but we will keep you posted right here on the blog as to dates defining official roll-out and release.

2020 Chevy Blazer vs. 2020 Chevy Equinox Head-to-Head Comparison via CarConnection.com

There are some very informed and decisive shoppers out there that make it look simple to choose a new crossover SUV. This size, that brand – and they are finished! While we have encountered many like that right here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse, we also understand that the selection process takes time for many, and listening to top authorities such as the staff of TheCarConnection.com can help when it comes down to the all-important comparison time. This week they ran a feature that pitted the 2020 Chevy Blazer up against the 2020 Chevy Equinox, two SUVs with some similarities but also with some unique character traits.

The 2020 Blazer sees the ushering in of a new turbo-4 cylinder in this second year on sale after its strong 2019 revival. The 2020 Equinox is a bit smaller on the outside and does not possess quite as much a sporty and aggressive stance. Where size usually matters most in a family crossover is in the especially important category of rear-seat and cargo space, and the two are neck-and-neck in that race. The Blazer has 30.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind its sliding second-row seat, and 64.2 cubic feet when the back bench is folded down. The Equinox is 30 and 63.9 cubic feet respectively, only a few boxes of groceries less in all.

The Blazer sees a much broader stance, and the second-row seats slide resulting in greater passenger and cargo space, but the Equinox has better quality front seats overall. However, there is no sliding second row and a bit narrower of a body that is best for three children across the back. The Premier trim level is what gives both the ritziest feel and the Equinox is the one of the pair that sees automatic emergency braking as standard.

This review states that within the realms of safety and space, the Equinox is probably the better choice. The Blazer sees some incredibly positive points for sheer style, and the 308-horsepower V6 when RS spec is chosen. An overall edgier shape and sporty interior makes the Equinox seem more family-oriented right off the bat and gives anyone on the hunt for some excitement in their daily drive a heightened reason to make the decision to purchase. The Equinox does outpace the Blazer in fuel economy, by a total of up to 5 mpg combined.
Both the Blazer and Equinox see touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and you can step up with leather, heated seats, big wheels, bigger horsepower stats, and more luxurious interiors. Concluding their thoughts between how the two cars differ and which one may be right for you it was noted that the Blazer’s wing like dash and jaunty body are standouts, but the Equinox may lean a bit heavier into practical and settled down territory. The staff on duty at Edmunds.com praised the Blazer for its “refined ride quality” and “amazingly agile handling”, and subsequently hailed the Equinox for great mileage, solid handling, and safety features that were cranked up a notch.

2021 Chevy Equinox's Front-Running Chicago Auto Show Stance Featured in Motor Authority

Thursday at the Chicago Auto Show, the refreshed 2021 Equinox was shown to the public, and all of us here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse are excited to get a peek at the second-best-selling vehicle in our lineup! Motor Authority ran a cool feature on their blog about the crossover SUV this past week, and what to expect for the model that will most likely roll onto lots in the fall. The most obvious changes are seen in the brand-new front and rear fascias, highlighted by multiple versions of a new front grille.

The 2021 Equinox also sees the addition of the RS trim, and the safety equipment has been made available on more models. The new grille is larger and has a sportier and more aggressive stance than the old model, and it takes on a different look based on which you select. The RS grille is black with satin gray accents and features black bowtie logos throughout, black badging, black side rails, dark 19-inch wheels, black upholstery with red stitching, and a unique RS shift knob. You'll want to check out the top-end Premier model: it gets a black grille of its own with chrome accents and features new LED headlights and taillights, new 19-inch wheels, a high-gloss black finish on the center console, and French stitching in the cabin.

The current year's model is available in L, LS, LT, RS, and Premier trims. Buyers can choose between a 1.5-liter turbo-4 paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission or a 2.0-liter turbo-4 paired to a 9-speed automatic. An all-wheel drive is still an option, and Front-wheel drive continues as standard. One of the best things about the Equinox is how much safety equipment you receive as standard: Active lane control, forward-collision warnings with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, and intelligent high beams are all now standard, but Chevy also saw the addition of a following-distance indicator and lane-departure warning as standard equipment.
We also really enjoyed this feature from TopSpeed that deems the Equinox “cooler than ever”, and offers up some close-ups of elements like the taillights. Everyone has also liked the super-cool Logo Projecting Tailgate, and just how much real value has been packed into this smaller-size crossover. With accents taken from the Blazer and still a very practical design for the family who frequently commutes, it is no mystery at all why it is so popular: It is a display of just how great everything that can be rolled into a vehicle is while still keeping the price take as reasonable as can be!

Stealth 2021 Chevy Equinox Rendered Images Courtesy of GM Authority

Here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse, we have survived the season of holiday gift lists, long lines at stores, and may or may not have stayed away from the lovely snacks and desserts of the season. When couples and kin ask each other what kind of vehicle they should purchase in the new year, all eyes are on the ones with refreshes and updates. And why wouldn't they be? Some models happen to be more popular and see lots of love in the engineering departments for the New Year, and the Chevy Equinox is set to receive a mid-cycle update for 2021.
Even though numerous prototype models have been seen testing nationwide, official images of the 2021 Equinox sans cover and camo have not yet surfaced. Thanks to these images that were rendered via faithful follower Brandon L. Dejean, a very sharp and close look is now available. The stance overall as seen from the side feels more aggressive than the current model and sees a hefty amount of styling inspiration from the current Blazer. The updated fascia will bring the latest Equinox more up to par style-wise with the rest of the Chevy lineup, and sports two-tired headlamp housings that evoke the character of an urban daily driver with the ideal crossover SUV stance.

You'll find horizontally oriented tail lamps in the rear, and the cabin may see a minor update and new active safety features. Infotainment offerings, for the most part, will carry over from the current model, and heftily  on deck for power are an arsenal of turbocharged 4-cylinders, sporting the 1.5 LYX and 2.0 LTG within the ranks. All available engine types will be mated to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission, and rumors of a high-performance model have been circulating.
Other great features such as autonomous braking at low speeds, Frontal collision alert, 4G connection, MyLink 2 Multimedia center with  an 8-inch screen, useful OnStar assistant, and Apple CarPlay, as well as Android Auto connectivity are also included in the list of reasons to sway some “mistletoe-laden sense” into any new buyer. Since some spy shots depicted a prototype with quad exhaust pipes, some in the industry think there could be an entirely new engine option, and the current unit nails  down 26 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway.

During the month of December, the current year's Chevy Equinox compact crossover SUV earned a Top Safety Pick award from the IIHS, rated as “Superior” for avoiding  collisions at 12 mph, and overall reducing the impact of collisions during the 25 mph test. Our patented-and-proud powertrain warranty covers 5 years or 60,000 miles, and we guarantee that an Equinox as a New Year's surprise for anyone in your circle will offer up a budget-minded, feature-rich, and safe ride for many more happy holidays to come!

2021 Chevy Equinox Spy Shots Provide Glimpse of New Fascia Design

The knowledgeable and savvy folks on staff at GM Authority have been covering the refresh that will take place on the 2021 Chevy Equinox for the current, third-generation compact crossover. These recent spy shots sent to us here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse provide another look at the upcoming CUV's front and rear fascias, and other highlights such as an all-new front-end. You can see the influence from Chevy's latest crossover design and styling language that was introduced on the new Chevy Blazer and Chevy Trailblazer crossovers, but the design of the refreshed equinox probably won't be as over the top aggressive as it was on these two.

The 2021 Chevy Equinox is also expected to sport a brand new two-tiered headlamp design. Its a bit hard to make out under the camouflage, but it looks as though it incorporates a two-tier layout similar to what is found in the new Blazer, though, still not quite as edgy. The 2021 Equinox will likely include a new grille, forward-facing camera, and rectangular cutout located at the bottom of the camo on the front grille. The profile itself does not see any change from the last model, and in the rear is a new set of horizontally-oriented tail lamps, with the lit-up graphic resembling the U-shaped elements that are found on the 2020 Blazer.

We would expect to see a few various updates to the cabin, and the introduction of more active safety features. The current three-generation Equinox already uses Chevy's latest, third-generation infotainment technology, so there probably won't be too many changes to be had in the infotainment category. Under the hood, it's expected that the 2021 Chevy Equinox should offer the same line of turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engines, including the 1.5-Liter LYX 4-cylinder, and 2.0-Liter LTG 4-cylinder. The1.6-Liter LH7 Turbodiesel 4-cylinder will continue to wait it out for a brief breather on the sidelines after it was discontinued for the 2020 model year.

A six-speed transmission handled shifting duties within the 2020 model year's lower-end trims, but the GM 9-speed automatic is expected to replace this inside the 2021 model. There are also rumors of a high-performance Equinox variant, and even though we have not yet seen evidence it makes sense: this is the SUV on the smaller size for the budget-minded consumer would surely see wild excitement about above-average acceleration as an additive.
Only the Silverado truck moves more units than the Equinox, and its versatility remains part of its wide-reaching charm. This is also the SUV that heartily topped the competition in initial and long-term quality in the J.D. Powers Dependability Study for 2019, proving its namesake resilience as well as reliability.

GM Authority's Labor Day Feature: 2020 Chevy Equinox Standard Active Safety Suite

The crossover SUV category is absolutely on fire in terms of popularity, sales, and the very stiff competition it faces. Very popular models like the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V are on the front lines ready to do battle this fall with the Chevy Equinox we love so much right here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse. On the GM Authority blog this week, there is a feature that closely outlines the number of updates and changes the 2020 Equinox will have, as well as a brand-new set of standard safety features.

The following features are now all standard across all 2020 Equinox equipment groups and trim levels: Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Following Distance Indicator, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Forward Automatic Braking, and Intellibeam Headlamps. This marks a very large change for Chevy and the way the vehicles are now offered: now providing these as standard equipment really sets the brand we love to represent every day apart from others, and puts us far ahead of the curve. Active safety technology has become a prime wish for consumers, and much more of an everyday expectation for newer cars.
The 2020 Chevy Equinox will be offered in four trim levels: L, LS, LT, and Premier. Engine options will feature the turbocharged 1.5-liter LYX inline four-cylinder which generates 170 horsepower, as well as the turbocharged 2.0-Liter LTG inline 4-cylinder hard at work cranking out 252 horsepower. These will be paired to either the GM 6-speed or 9-speed transmission, allowing for smooth shifting and the best in gear management systems out there!

When asked which of these features that will now be made standard we have had our eyes on the most, it is hard not to ignore Automatic Braking: this is an amazing system that will take charge and automatically apply the vehicle's brakes to avoid a crash entirely or help reduce the severity and impact. It is made up of Front and Rear Automatic braking and incorporates Rear Park Assist ultrasonic sensors and 1 or 2 short-range radars placed behind the rear bumper to get the job done.
Tailgating has been recognized as an issue that dominates the pet peeve list of many in cities nationwide and can lead to severe road rage as well as accidents. Following Distance Indicator is a technology that constantly aids the driver in keeping a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead. It uses the vehicle's Forward Collision Alert sensors to provide the driver with an accurate following time to let them know if they are indeed following too close. The system is set to display a minimum following time of .5 seconds, and is also great for teen drivers: many of those on the younger end of the driving spectrum tend to not be as aware of their surroundings in terms of distance.
