2019 Silverado 1500 Durabed: Segment-Leading Size and Functionality

It's peak summer season here at the Powerhouse, and looking for a vehicle that is the biggest and baddest is high on the priority list of many customers. We steer scores of people towards the right truck for them, as there are many different questions they ask to see what would work best for them. The new Silverado 1500 is going to come up quite often in conversation, because it now is the best-in-class cargo volume, box depth, box length at floor, plus class-leading 12-fixed-tie-downs. The 2019 Silverado 1500 is the most functional bed of any pickup, proudly roaring ahead of many other competitors in a category that can matter most.

The bed is the absolute heart and soul of any pickup, so several improvements were  made to the all-new Silverado to give customers a hauling experience that is more functional, and it has been so spiced up to the max, that it deserves its own name: Durabed. The short box's volume is now up to 20 percent more than any competitor's short-box, and most of that increase was achieved by widening the maximum width of the bed floor by ten percent, which was then chosen to be implemented across all three bed sizes. A very durable and capable higher grade steel is being used in the construction of Durabed as well, and the quality of the bed floor materials have improved drastically, from 340 megapascals, to 500 megapascals.

When you are on the job and need things securely fastened down, the last thing you want is to have to worry about is the dependability of your tie-downs. In the new Silverado model, each of these has doubled from 250 lbs to 500 lbs of force before bending, and an additional nine movable tie-down points are available as well for even more valuable flexibility of cargo. Tie downs are now located at different heights, to offer customers a greater amount of versatility in what they can secure and haul. The Durabed truck bed which is now standard on all 2019 Silverado 1500 models, also includes much larger cutouts in the GM-exclusive CornerStep bumpers, to better accommodate the sometimes-necessary presence of steel-toed boots.

Come check out all of the features of the upcoming 2019 Silverado with us down  here at the Powerhouse, and enjoy the benefits of a test drive during fall! The Durabed is also going to be available with integrated, in-bed LED lighting, and a 110/120 – volt power outlet. A light at the top of the rear cab now also comes standard on all Silverado models. The Standard Gate is a manual gate with no lift assist and is manually lockable with a key. The Standard Gate with Lift Assist is a stamped gate that now includes lift assist, and is manually lockable with a key. You'll also love the industry-exclusive power up/down, available on the LTZ and standard on High Country, the tailgate raises or lowers using the key fob, and is power-lockable, with lift assist, and automatic release.

2019 Chevy Suburban RST: V8 Power and Style For the Victory Lap

There are so many different types of great vehicles available out there right now, that it can be hard to narrow your search down to find what's perfect for you! Full-size always means trustiest as well as capable, and Powerhouse customers are definitely known for their need of the absolute best and strongest in the business. Chevy announced last week that the new Suburban RST Performance Package will feature a 420-hp 6.2 L V-8 engine, Magnetic Ride Control with performance calibration, and a new hyrda-matic 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission. This officially brings to the table a seamless blend of style and performance to Chevy's full-size SUV portfolio, and available later this summer, it is the first time that Suburban will offer the 6.2L V-8, which boasts 420 horsepower, and 460 Lb-ft of torque.

The engine delivers 3 state-of-the-art technologies, direct injection, Active Fuel  Management, and continuously variable valve timing – to make the most of efficiency, power, and torque no matter what type of driving condition is thrown your way. A new 10-speed automatic transmission is also featured, with smaller steps between each ratio to maximize the engine's power during acceleration. This transmission also fulfills the duty of reducing revolutions of the engine at highway speeds, by means of the 7.39 overall gear ratio spread, and lower numerical top gear ratio.

Magnetic Ride Control is an active suspension that “reads” the road every millisecond, which results in the important triggering of damping changes in the shock absorbers during the ride. After this occurs, the suspension delivers both improved body-motion control during cornering, and a much more comfortable and stable drive during the cruise. This exciting and now-available Performance Package offers the highest levels of acceleration, braking, and road-holding grip, and really refines the ride for the times when relaxation is needed.

Extra performance accessories for Suburban RST include a custom tuned Performance Dual-side exhaust system: it was engineered and produced by Borla, with sleek exhaustion tips that improve exhaust flow by 28 percent. This results in greatly enhanced performance, and decreased fuel consumption. You can also up the quality of the ride one more drastic level higher, with the available performance brake package designed, engineered, and backed by Brembo, which features massive front red six-piston, fixed aluminum calipers with larger-than-stock brake pads, along with Duralife rotors that feature a specially hardened surface to reduce corrosion. One of the first things you'll notice when you visit us in the Fall for a test drive at the Powerhouse is the elimination of much of the chrome trim: the result is a much more aggressive and sporty appearance, and you can't go wrong during any tough task sporting a towing capacity of 8,100 pounds!

2019 Chevy Silverado Chassis Cab 4500 HD: Offerings For Those “Open For Business”

Every day across the great nation of America and right here in Missouri, many business owners brew their first cup of coffee, look over their daily itinerary, and make plans to grow their thriving dreams. Hauling, building, implementing, designing, and logging shipments all go into the best dream of all: being one's own boss, and providing services and goods to other hard-working individuals nationwide takes grit and perseverance. Trucks not surprisingly go hand in hand with business, as they possess all of the needed qualities for nearly anyone with multiple hefty tasks at hand. The new Silverado chassis cabs are a great addition to the Chevy lineup, because elements such as first responder calls, utility, and landscape work can be dependent on the trucks ability to drive, own, and upfit.

The Silverado will now be available in 2WD and 4WD, aptly powered by a Duramax 6.6-liter diesel engine, with 350 horsepower, and 700 lb-ft of torque, as well as Allison transmissions with a Power Take Off option. The frame is now designed with one-piece straight rails that have no brackets or rivets on top, that can sometimes interfere with the hasty mounting of custom-made bodies. This is a truck that is designed to be very easy to service, with its clamshell hood and wheel cut of up to 50 degrees, that can give technicians much easier access to the engine than trucks with older-style hoods. You'll be well-pleased with the twin-tank fuel capacity of up to 65 gallons, and a factory-installed air suspension to help with the roughest of roads or bumpiness.

Those who are fleet managers, builders, and other customers have faced dilemmas when their GVWR needs to exceed 19,500 lbs, and some will pay for expensive aluminum bodies to save weight, so they can stay in the Class 5 Chassis category. Some business owners have to spend extra money to purchase a truck that is larger, and the Silverado 6500 HD is able to protect their bottom line and give them the capability to expand, minus the extra large expenditure. We engineered this truck with some of the most precise turning radius in existence, and you'll also be able to take advantage of trademark distinctions such as the flowtie, a silhouette of the Chevrolet emblem designed for the task of increased cooling efficiency.

When things really start to get busy for the day, the smartly positioned Diesel Exhaust fluid fill on the right fender behind the front wheel is ideal for easy refills, and the forward-tilting engine cover and wheel cut design provides service techs with comfortable and simple access to the engine. You have the ability to stay seamlessly and constantly connected with the available built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi, keeping you up to date on everything from weather and changes in traffic, to important deliveries and pickups. Sporting a single-piece frame rail for enhanced durability and a wide range of cab-to-axle offerings for upfit integration, you'll want to visit us soon right here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse, to check out the great features on this working man or woman's vehicle to help make their workplace complete.

2019 Silverado Awaits, Sporting Higher Fuel Efficiency, Towing Maximum

What a great Fourth of July it was around the Powerhouse: Jackson Street Park, Kimberling City Bridge, and Branson Landing all had displays for those of you who were lucky enough to be in the Ozarks, and we have always been very proud of living in a state that has absolutely the most to offer in the nation as far as fireworks for sale. Now as our attention focuses to other weekends you may have scheduled off for the hot days of summer, next year's truck models are going to be one item that you have questions about. Chevy announced officially last week that the 2019 Silverado LT will be larger, more capable, fuel efficient, and less expensive, which is a true feature-filled bargain!

There will be more interior and cargo room, higher payload and towing capacity,  along with an all-new 2.7-liter turbo engine, producing 22 percent more torque than the 4.3-liter V-6 it replaces, an 8-speed automatic transmission, active aero shutters, and stop-start technology. Don't forget to check out the exciting options on the High Country Trim level: the hefty and powerful 5.3-Liter V8 with brand new Dynamic Fuel Management, push-button start, stop-start technology, Lane Change Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert, Advanced Trailering System, and perfectly piped dual exhaust outlets.

The Z71 Off-Road Package is now available on every single model, and standard when you opt for the desert-and-dune-hungry Trail Boss model. You get to explore the most desolate and demanding of locations with a factory-installed 2-inch lift suspension, Rancho monotube shocks, and Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac all-terrain tires. Electric hill descent control is incredibly useful for the most demanding and dangerous of terrain that requires slow goin', and the skid plates for engine oil pan and transfer-case protection as well as heavy duty air filter help with keeping the Silverado in its prime condition during even the muddier or dustier of treks.

The next-generation Silverado is larger than the outgoing model in just about every single way. The Silverado crew cab, short box has 1.2 inches more total width, 1.5-inches more total height, 1.7 inches more total length, and 3.9 inches more wheelbase. This adds up to the creation of the largest cargo volume of any full-size truck in short-bed, standard-bed, and long-bed models. Coming in at 62.9 cubic feet, the Silverado short bed offers more cargo volume than the competent yet still top competitor's version of the Ford F-150.

Even with the larger footprint, the Silverado is up to 450 pounds lighter than the current model, due to mixed material use, and advanced manufacturing. For 2019, the 6.2-Liter V-8 is now exclusively offered with four-wheel drive, and if you opt for the Max Towing Package, now delivers a maximum of 12,200 pounds towing. This is up a hefty 500 pounds from the similarly-equipped current year's model, and we can guarantee that the new-for-2019 Silverado will continue to coax buyers into ownership with class-superior strength, features, and cargo capacity!

2019 Chevy Silverado Trim Choice Spotlight: Cheaper LT Trim in the Works

Missouri has long been known as a place that has a very deep love for trucks: we have ample lakes to have summer fun in, plenty of wooded areas for hunting, and the optional trek to two very large cosmopolitan cities to keep us occupied. There are already all different types of trim levels when it comes to the Silverado, allowing you as the buyer to customize which finished product works best for you. We had a few blogs over the year highlighting the ways in which this truck has been thoroughly revamped and restyled to deliver the ultimate in efficiency, but now the good news is that it is going to be less expensive to boot! Everyone who is looking into getting into a brand new truck understandably toils very hard for their money, and having any funds left over after a major purchase is a huge relief.

Depending on which trim level you select, the Silverado now comes available with six different options for powertrain, beginning with a 4.3-liter V6, ranging all the way up to a 3.0-liter turbodiesel, sporting a 10-speed automatic. The Work Truck trim is now on deck as the entry-level version, and as well as the Custom and Custom Trail Boss levels, they come standard with the 4.3-liter V6. Also available on all three trim levels is the 5.3-liter V8, and the RST as well as the LT are equipped with the new 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, which generates 310 horsepower, and 348 lb-ft of torque. There is also the option for a V8, promising abundant power and muscle to accomplish any demanding hauling, rigging, or recreational trip that would call for primo power.

When it comes to cars and trucks, it is definitely true that “you get what you pay for”,  and when pricing is on the table, it is easy to understand that the research, engineering, design, and development are necessary components that will affect the price. A well-versed and trusty vehicle such as the Silverado is not the type that anyone would think is a member of the lower-priced battalion, and every one of us on staff here at the Powerhouse knows that every dollar counts, and have seen the effects of living costs vs wages as of late.

We also firmly believe that the pride of being an American stems from very deep layers of tradition, and great trucks like the Silverado remind us just how much back-breaking labor was necessary to build our great and very diverse nation. As the 4th of July season is now upon us, the announcement of this less expensive Work Truck trim is a seasoned salute to anyone out there that knows the feeling of going over the day's duties extensively before the sun is even up!

Car and Driver heaped the praise on the Silverado heavily, and claimed that it possessed “butch new styling, fresh engine tech, and a trusty diesel option”. Now, the wheelbase is 3.9 inches longer than the current truck's, and legroom is up from 40.9 inches to 43.8 inches. There are now two large storage bins in the rear seatbacks, and extra storage space under the rear seat bottoms. No matter which configuration you choose, every brand new Silverado gets a larger bed, boasting an extra seven inches of floor width. The brand new power-operated tailgate can be controlled by your choice of key fob or cabin-mounted button. It is exciting for all of us here at the Powerhouse to see features like lower prices for trim levels for next year's Silverado, and we hope that you stop by soon to check out the specs on Memphis's toughest truck choice, slated to be rolling in and ready by the fall!
