Newswheel Provides Up-close Glance at 2020 Chevy Silverado Trim Levels

Mid-Missouri Powerhouse customers have long been no stranger to the needs of the day: hauling, lifting, towing, and plowing are all just normal occurrences during the course of any given shift. Even businesses in the area who have tech-focused priorities can benefit massively from a hefty machine like the coming-model Silverado: local customers sometimes prefer local delivery, and on-the-spot servicing for everything under the sun from computer towers to windows and doors. As the specs become more public on the coming 2020 truck, many are asking us what to expect from trim levels, which is what everyone wants when embarking to purchase the car or truck of their dreams.

When shoppers are checking out trucks, they are not just trying to get a different model than the Joneses, they are keeping in mind their own daily driving needs as well. Each trim for the 2020 Silverado will possess a unique style to make it distinct, and offer up functions that are useful to a unique driver set. The five trim levels are Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country. Many worldwide who have begun digging up spy shots and renderings have been impressed with the truck's bold, intimidating face, and unique design that distinguishes the HD apart immediately from the 1500. The Newswheel blog ran a feature this past week highlighting the announcement of the trim levels, and the reasoning behind the designs.

Truck customers have been designated as having very clear need for daily duties, and it should not be surprising that they want what is perfect for them, sans a vehicle that has been molded into a 'one size fits most' truck for everyone. There will be a new gas engine, a Duramax turbo-diesel V8, new trailering technology, and higher ratings in the payload and towing departments. Each HD model features exterior design details that are very distinct, with grilles featuring either the Chevy stamped bar or bowtie and a mix of black, chrome, body color, or two-tone metallic trim that is exclusive to the exciting High Country models.

For this year's model, the “Work Truck” trim featured ultra-cool blacked out trim, interior features including durable vinyl or cloth seats, and the 7-inch color touchscreen for entertainment and navigation needs. The “Custom” trim will no doubt showcase a body-color styling theme, 20-inch painted aluminum wheels, LED signature Taillamps, and the added benefit of available integrated dual exhaust. We expect the 2020 “LT” trim to offer available leather seats, an 8-inch touchscreen, chrome accents on the bumpers, front grill, and mirror caps, and LED reflector headlamps and signature daytime running lamps.

If there is one thing to get genuinely excited about as a lover of trucks, we would place our bets on the High Country Trim: with a power up/down tailgate as standard, this is one way to really top out the member of your daily workforce that is mandated to always take care of your heavy lifting! During this time of year there is a bit of confusion as to what's on deck and what's coming next: stay tuned to our blog to make sure that you have the prime scoop on the 2020 Silverado, a truck that will no doubt make history for offering up the baddest, strongest, and most salacious run in heavy-duty sidekick status!

Chevy Silverado 1500 6.2-Liter Cited by Car and Driver as “Apex of Pickup Finery”

Here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse during the summer, one of the first things we were told about the re-design of the full-size Silverado for 2019 was that Chevy was definitely proceeding with caution. The chassis and suspension were updated rather than completely re-worked, and the 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder is the new engine for some, with the six-cylinder turbo-diesel on deck to join the lineup soon. The prime power source is once again the two traditional V8's, and they are available in both the 5.3 and 6.2-liter variants. The 6.2-liter is the largest engine offered in a half-ton pickup period, and situated directly towards those who want to churn through the workday with sheer force.

The testing staff at Car and Driver were not at all surprised that the 6.2-liter's numbers make this Silverado much quicker than its rivals with V-8s, and the all-wheel-drive crew-cab High Country completes the zero to 60 spec in just 5.4 seconds, which is better than the F-150 Platinum V-8, the Hemi-driven Ram Laramie, as well as the 5.7-liter Tundra. The 6.2-liter earns a bit higher of a tow rating than the 5.3, sporting a grand total of 9,300 pounds in this case. One surprising thing about the Car and Driver staff's rigorous testing was documented for the 5.3-liter: they thought that the Dodge Ram's pipes and exhaust sounded a bit better than ours, and while that's OK “for now,” they are still loyal to the Silverado, having named it on numerous “Best of” lists throughout the years.

Once they got to business and began driving with a purpose, they realized a few awesome traits that are commonplace on many full-size pickups, yet somehow very unique to the Silverado. The high-sidewall tires help mask the harsh qualities of pavement that has seen better days, and from behind the wheel, the multi-angle cameras are useful in all types of maneuvers, since the high-and-mighty hood tends to hide any obstacles near the front end. As soon as you shift into reverse the camera pops up, one of the best features to give you the added helping hand of fine new tech on-demand.

Also doling out high praise for the overall functionality of the cabin, it was noticed that the wide center console has a few different stowage cubbies, including one that has the ability to provide wireless charging for your smartphone. Immediately behind the seatbacks, there is more stowing space tucked behind hidden doors, and we also fully agree with the testing crew that the switches, knobs, and buttons on the pickup's infotainment interface are “logical, and gimmick-free.” Even over the next few years, we will be very surprised at the advancements in dashboard tech, and some of them will undoubtedly hit the driver with too much punch off the bat.

If you are looking for a truck that will defy the laws of “ordinary-ville” and keep you occupied with the best in what the market has to offer, check out the High Country trim: the leather and two-tone scheme on the inside are just the thing to make the delivery, drilling session, or taking toys to the lake the absolute perfect and primo-powered outing!

TopGear Blog Claims New Silverado HD Will “Eat Lesser Trucks for Breakfast”

As the wind rustles through trees that are sometimes snow-covered this time of year at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse, thoughts of over-sized grilles, massive horsepower, and go-anywhere tires are admittedly dancing in our heads. The All-American pickup standard just keeps getting better when it comes to the Silverado, and when you have a perfect blend of exterior appeal and can-do attitude, legends are born overnight.

Claiming avidly that “The new Silverado HD will eat other trucks for breakfast,” the staff of Topgear.com wrote last week about the all-out excitement surrounding the release of the heavy-duty pickup designed to look like heavy machinery. Setting out to make a statement and visually capture all of the raw power and capability of the truck, it is true that the look of the HD can instill a bit of terror. We think heartily of films like “Friday the 13th” and “Nightmare on Elm St.”

Because this new Silverado is going to be truly HD, the roof is the only component shared with its light-duty Silverado counterpart. Every single other bit of metal is new, and when we say this, we are not talking about a small share. All over the web, truck lovers are lamenting just how dominating the new grille looks, and words like “staggering” are among the best to describe its vibe and stance. When compared to the F-250 4X4, there are so many ways in which it dominates visually: the square headlights, giant badge, and square fender openings are over-the-top unique, and the reviewers on “The Fast Lane Truck” lamented how it does feel a bit like a semi, in a good and strategic long-haul kind of way.

The range-topping “High Country” trim sports a feature that the staff of Jalopnik.com hit the nail on the head with describing: a grille that “appears less determined to eat you.” We agree that aggressive is still the name of the game, but this could be the best choice for those who still need the grunt and gusto of a truck, without evoking the sensation that they were going be a bit like “Mad Max.” One thing that all of us here can agree on is that many of our locals will fall in love with the 2020 Silverado: one of the available engines is rumored to be the Navistar-sourced 6.6-Liter V-8 from MD trucks. The Motor1.com blog claims, after a close-up look, that this coming-soon truck is uniquely “polarizing,” and we guarantee that you will love the modern and chiseled look that collides perfectly with the longstanding ability of a tried-and-true workhorse.

News-Press Now GIves Suburban RST High Praise for Performance-Minded Capability

Robert Duffer of the Chicago Tribune was on stealth assignment this past week and took on the task of sharing his opinions on the new Chevy Suburban RST. A vehicle that many have asked us here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse about this holiday season, his article title alone states that it can “haul so much more than people.” Being in existence since 1935, this is the longest-running nameplate in continual use. Robert also reflects with humor how the Suburban of his past is “a high-school buddy's rusted-out powder blue on navy truck with ripped vinyl seats and a busted shock,” providing a detailed visual of a vehicle the teens loved to be carted around in on the weekends.

He remembers in detail how that Suburban was “beat up, beloved, and running seemingly forever to its death,” describing just how durable and tough the vehicle Is. The 2019 Suburban RST is a very sleek prowler, capable of massive agility, and deriving power from a small block V-8 engine similar to what is used in the legendary and track-commanding Corvette. Sporting black wheels, black bumpers, black bow ties, and even black lettering, it evokes a certain breed of hefty hauling machine while still putting forth a sense of respectable and menacing charm.

When you visit us here at the Powerhouse to check out options for trims, don't in any way skip over the Rally Sport: it appeared in the Tahoe as well last year, and upgrades the engine to a 6.2-liter V-8 EcoTec, with a more efficient 10-speed transmission capable of churning out 460 lb-ft of torque. Known for seamlessly carrying its weight and feeling pleasantly light on the throttle, this trim level also gets Magnetic Ride Control as well as incredibly sensitive world-class shocks. These can react very quickly to road conditions and driver input, and with 22-inch wheels, the Suburban RST cruises on the highway with a distinct and noticeable smoothness.

The true test drive for the RST was given during a very plausible scenario: transporting kids around town for a long week, then on a camping excursion during the weekend. Plenty of goods and gear were packed in, and Robert and co. immediately thought there was more space than the closely-competing Cadillac Escalade. During the week in the city, there was an overall light feel in the driving, and it was greatly appreciated that the usual boat-like roll of a full-size SUV was not in place. 19 MPG was the average number on the highway thanks to cylinder deactivation, which shuts down half of the 8 cylinders during any cruise.

If you are planning long trips with the entire family as many who would be into a Suburban are, definitely set your holiday-spirited sights on the Entertainment Package: it provides screens that retract from the ceiling in the mid and third row. The Suburban is the family vehicle that strays far away from minivan compromise and is constantly on deck to provide the best in power, agility and all-inclusive long-haul status!
