Ready, Set, Assemble: 2025 Chevy Equinox Production Dates Revealed

Staying glued to the news on the web has always provided us with the “early bird’s scoop” here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse, where we have just learned of another thrilling looming deadline! Full-on representing a thrilling new stance upon its official debut, the 2025 Chevy Equinox will now make public its exciting changes to the exterior styling, interior appointment, and amazing high-tech features. GM Authority has now learned when our favorite new-gen compact crossover is expected to launch.

Official production for the 2025 model is expected to resume on May 20th, 2024. The current 2024 Equinox is scheduled for conclusion on May 18th, 2023. The facility at GM San Luis Potosl plant is transitioning towards EV-only production, with models such as the Equinox and Blazer poised at the forefront. The all-new 2025 Equinox will stun buyers with an exterior design more aligned with our progressive language, including its signature two-tire “highbrow” headlights. In the rear, a set of horizontally oriented taillights are situated, alongside sharp & aggressive dual exhaust outlets.

The interior has undergone a very thorough overhaul and features better ergonomics. The space boasts a sense of practicality, and the new digital gauge cluster is poised directly behind the new steering wheel. The Infotainment system already was ranked as awesome up against the competition, but the 2025 model sports an entirely new version. There are new active safety features along with the convenient and game-changing GM Super Cruise technology. Specific powertrain details are not quite yet on the table, but we expect the 2025 Equinox to arrive with a small displacement turbocharged variant.

The Motor Trend team claimed that this will most likely be the year to say goodbye to the 2024 model’s base 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, with an 8.0-inch model or larger on all base LS’s. Most trims are expected to step into the coming of spring with a larger display of around 11 inches. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay should be part of the picture, along with physical knobs and buttons to assure that things remain simple. Edmunds.com praised the incoming Equinox for its “premium look inside and out, strong optional V6 engine, quiet interior, and comfortable highway ride.”

Facing off directly with the likes of the Mazda CX50 and Honda CRV, the Equinox has long staked its claim by delivering intense bang for the hard-earned buck. Last earmarked the additions of riptide blue and Lakeshore blue color choices, along with a revision of the Driver Confidence II Package. This will now see the addition of blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, along with availability on the base LS trim. The Car and Driver review team was thrilled with the 2024 Equinox’s competent handling and incredibly accurate and very direct steering quality.

The Equinox boasts a 3500-lb towing capacity, along with a nicely-styled cabin and many interior luxuries. Every Equinox is available with a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot, and the model has earned a 5-star rating from the NHTSA. Some of the Equinox’s safety features include standard forward collision warning, automated emergency braking, standard lane departure warning and lane keeping assist, and available adaptive cruise control. There is always the possibility of brand-new hybrid powertrains joining the mix, and we are thrilled to keep everyone informed here on the blog of any updates or other pertinent NYE details!

Sleek, Stylish, and Smart: What’s New & Noteworthy in the 2024 Chevy Traverse

One of the top-selling SUVs in our lineup here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse in Linn, Missouri is the Chevy Traverse, and it’s getting a complete redesign for 2024. Moving into its third generation after its 2009 introduction, the Traverse is our 3-row midsize SUV, slotted comfortably in between the Tahoe and Blazer. It’s clear that Chevrolet listened to drivers who wanted a more truck-like look, as the redesigned Traverse has a much more rugged look.

The larger grill features a bar that spans the width of the vehicle and a prominent Chevy bowtie. Distinctive LED headlights and taillights are now standard, as well as dual exhaust. It has been thrilling to witness all the many unique ways in which trims have developed to brandish their own personality, and the Traverse RS sweeps onto the scene with a sportier look. It offers 22-inch high-gloss black aluminum wheels, gloss black trim, and Jet Black leather seats with red accents.

The Z71 trim level has been added to the Traverse lineup, drastically boosting the SUV’s off-road capability. It roars in with an extra inch of ground clearance, 18-inch gloss black wheels fitted with all-terrain tires, a twin-clutch AWD system, off-road suspension, and the incline-conquering hill descent control. Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology is now offered as well, which is an amazing technology boasting over 34 million hands-free miles driven. There’s also an aluminum skid plate to protect the front, and red tow hooks to tie things together.

Chevy VP Scott Bell excitedly claimed that the new Traverse was specially designed to perform more like an SUV and as a result would be in many more garages than the 2023 model year. All variants of the 2024 Traverse come standard with the all-new 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, cranking out 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission is standard, and all-wheel drive is an option on all trim levels. The all-new Traverse is also equipped with a 5,000-lb towing rating.

Another significant update, this time to the interior, is the XXL 17.7-inch touchscreen as standard, and an 11-inch digital driver’s display. The instrument panel has also been lowered, which offers better direct outward visibility. Six USB ports are now standard, and the new Traverse offers the convenience of available wireless phone charging. There’s also a new pass-through design for the underside of the console and the heated steering wheel.

Higher-level trims now have second-row captain’s chairs with seating for seven, and the new “SmartSlide” feature that provides easier access to the third row. When all seats are folded flat, the new Traverse has up to 98 cubic feet of space, with the third row featuring a 60/40 split for added functionality. Anyone with young ones to haul around will find the Traverse ideal. We love the added Harvest Bronze and Lakeshore Blue exterior colors!

Deck the Driveway: The 2025 Chevy Tahoe's Exceptional Powertrain Lineup and Towing Triumph

Updates on coming-soon models are just as festive and fun as unwrapping holiday gifts themselves here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse! Anticipation and feature-rich models go hand in hand, as the excitement of having a brand-new set of wheels to tackle the daily to-do list is a complete game-changer. The 2025 Chevy Tahoe arrives onto the scene proudly with updates such as new 24-inch wheel designs to choose from on the RST and High Country trims.

Lakeshore Blue Metallic and Cypress Gray are two striking new available exterior paint colors, and the High Country and RST trims have new 24-inch wheel designs to choose from. The 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter engines are rightfully sticking around to enjoy the New Year’s festivities, with the second-generation 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel arriving as a brand-new option for 2025. It cranks out 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque, a substantial increase over the outgoing diesel’s 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain is available on all six trims, which will delight off-road-hungry drivers looking for low-end climbing power.

The 10-speed automatic transmission now comes as standard, and the Tahoe’s maximum towing capacity is situated at a robust and holiday party-bound 8,400 lbs. The multilink independent rear suspension has undergone updates to be more refined, and extra steering calibrations will make this large vehicle feel smaller to handle and maneuver. The Magnetic Ride Control option has been updated to alleviate some of the bumps and tossing that can be par for the course on minimally maintained roads anywhere.

Inside, the instrument panel is now lowered to provide a better sense of forward visibility, with the sought-after newcomer to the holiday caroling session presiding as the 17.7-inch infotainment screen. This addition makes for a cleaner and more accessible cabin and boosts the sense of usability during routine drives that still shine with an appealing demeanor. The hands-free Super Cruise feature was already available on the High Country and Premier trims, and for 2025 it will be on the RST and LT as well. The crisp new screen also sees a reconfigured center stack with sleeker air vents, and RST models now offer the very cool Victory Red stitching.

Premier models now boast a Sky Cool Gray and Jet-Black color combination, and the luxurious High-Country model includes the model’s first real wood trim and leather seats. Chevy has taken a very close look at the stiffly competing Jeep models that have seen success with this addition, and we are confident here at the Powerhouse that those looking for a touch of upper-end elegance and comfort are going to be impressed. Lake days and other long-awaited getaways will provide a perfect opportunity to use the new trailer-tire health monitor and boat ramp assist.

A new forward path indicator provides the vitals on your estimated turning path for the trailer and the vehicle, with the RST and High Country trims also offering air suspension for the first time. “The staggering amount of how much needs to be done” in a day has changed the landscape for drivers nationwide, spurning the need for features such as the brand-new interior motion detector. This will ensure that no passengers are hastily left behind after finding the perfect tree, or impromptu cruise around town to check out lights. Another extra that has become a Powerhouse favorite is the proximity liftgate, which requires anyone to stand for three seconds near the rear of the car before opening.

Exploring the On-Road Adventures of the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2

The 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 was officially revealed to truck lovers everywhere this past April, bringing an eager and distinguished face to an off-road ready and capable name here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse. Taking up cozy holiday and New Year’s residence with the Chevy Colorado ZR2 and the Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2, this truck will slot in as the big and burly terrain-conquering brute of the lineup, while boasting an admirable assortment of upgrades over the standard refreshed Silverado HD model.

The GM Authority crew offered a closeup look on their blog this past week, as they tailed a brand-new Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 that was decked out in Summit White paint. Much like the consistent snowfall we are expecting here in the ST Louis area over the season, it gives the truck a very clean and poised look while cruising down the road. Setting the stage for potentially high doses of splattered mud that will accumulate on the fenders after a well-deserved trek off-road, this 2500 HD Crew Cab body configuration is the only one of the lineup to offer the Silverado HD ZR2 trim level.

There are a few notable style changes right off the bat, as eye-catching and appealing as the seasonal glow of the main street holiday lights right here in Lynn this month! There’s a new unique front grille, which sports the Chevy emblem centrally placed along the top dividing line. Much like stockings over the warm hearth, it included sweet red inner detailing, offering a unique color splash to complement the ZR2 emblem directly over the fenders. The 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 is also equipped with the ZR2 Bison Edition package, which adds even more superb goodies from the stream-and-canyon experts at AEV.

You’ll be confidently minesweeping or burnin’ down the nearest minimum-access fire road with ease courtesy of a new front bumper, matte black finish, small fog lamps, and tough-as-nails vertically oriented tow hooks. There are massive skid plates intact to protect all the valuables underneath, 18-inch wheels, a new rear bumper, and heavy-duty floor liners. Under the hood resides the true star of the holiday-themed show: the hefty 6.6-liter V8 LSP turbodiesel Duramax engine, which is now rated at 470 horsepower and 975 lb-ft of torque.

If you are looking to still “reign supreme with the reindeer” but are coming at things from a tone-down approach, you can opt for the naturally aspirated 6.6-liter V8 L8T, rated at 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. The Jalopnik feature writers affectionately billed this rig as the “ideal end times vehicle”, with its ability to power through hell and high water while coming out with minimal battle scars on the other side. This is our way of heaping on the extra good stuff and giving buyers off-road-ready parts without the need for aftermarket purchases to feel fully prepared.

We’re talking about the expert-level “get unstuck” versions of unique steel pumpers, integrated winches and recovery points, distinct wheels, and interior trim. The most challenging of inclines won’t ruffle any feathers thanks to three-spool Multimatic dampers, an exclusive off-road performance mode, and 35-inch all-terrain tires. Mapping the ultimate route will be a snap with 11.8 inches of ground clearance, a 29.8-degree approach angle, and a breaker angle of 22.6 degrees. The Jalopnik crew were also quite confident in their boulder-navigating abilities courtesy of the various camera angles allowing for fine-tuned adjustments.

If you happen to be in the market for a “do-all machine”, all of us here at the Powerhouse will be happy to see you this holiday season: we are thrilled you have chosen us to provide your vehicles for the past and very merry present!

Born for the Backcountry: Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Unleashed for the Dedicated Explorer

As we have so much exciting news this time of year here at Mid Missouri Powerhouse, we are checking out future model specs and features while our own personal wish lists are dancing in our heads! Like reindeer themselves making their way over chimneys at night, the off-road-ready Chevy Colorado ZR2 becomes even tougher when it’s dressed to the nines with the Desert Boss package. If this isn’t quite adequate for the most diehard of all-terrain lovers, the 2024 model digs even deeper with the new ZR2 Bison.

The redesigned ZR2 from 2023 is an excellent living and breathing version of a capable and terrain-slaying midsize truck, and the fantastic news ahead on the holiday hearth is that 2024 will bring a new version that rocks even harder! The ZR2 model is a bit taller than the Colorado and is fitted with very beefy wheels and underbody protection. Front and rear light bars, winches, off-road bumpers, safari bars, and numerous cargo management features fulfill the duty of not leaving anything to the imagination as to what this vehicle’s “reasons for living” are.

Just a few decades ago it was very difficult to conceptualize just how much a class-leading assortment of cameras could help someone in the pursuit of off-road adventure. The ZR2 boasts a category-exclusive underbody camera, which lets you bear detailed witness to every brutal scrape, battle scar, and abrupt bump. The 2023 Chevy Colorado showed up mountainside with several powertrain options, but the sole choice now is the 310-horsepower turbocharged 2.7-liter 4-cylinder. It’s a higher-powered version that is specifically tuned for 430 lb-ft of torque and paired with the same 8-speed automatic that comes across the Colorado lineup.

To be properly primed for the challenges of the jagged and unforgiving wild, the ZR2 sees additional upgrades across the suspension lineup, boasting a high-performance setup with a stable and wider stance, Multimatic dampers, and a useful 3-inch lift. The payload rating is superbly situated at 1,050 lbs and has a maximum towing capacity of 5,500 pounds. The upgraded suspension is paired with Jounce Control dampers, which employ a piston inside the damper to provide resistance against hydraulic fluid and absorb excess energy. Ground clearance resides at 12.2 inches, and the all-important trail hound’s breakover angle resides at 26.9 degrees.

Standard steel skid plates and rocker trim are the “Guardians of the Galaxy” as far as the underbody is concerned, assuring that the many ruts, ravines, and washout don’t dole out extreme damage. Don’t forget to check out the Desert Boss Special Edition package, which adds beadlock-capable wheels, leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, very cool black exterior badging, a bed-mounted 40-inch off-road light bar, an off-road front bumper with a safari bar, and numerous other safety and comfort upgrades.

As the trail maps are depicting your next dusty conquest and all the climbing gear is packed, the Flex Utility Package decks things out a higher notch with configurable bed rails and cargo tie-downs. The Recovery Package boasts the “getting unstuck” goodie of the winch, bed-mounted LED lighting, and a hard tonneau cover. The Motor Trend crew navigated a 3-foot near-vertical ledge, boulders the size of small sedans, and other massive obstacles that would completely destroy the average vehicle with the ZR2. On Johnson Valley’s infamous Chocolate Thunder Trail, they rendered their test drive as “valuable and up to the task, with excellent approach and departure angles for getting tires on top and over rocks.”

2023 Chevy Blazer Brings “Fiercely Styled, Smooth, and Spacious” to a Festive Gathering Near You

Bringing back the Chevy Blazer was an incredibly exciting accomplishment for all of us here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse: this was one of those models that offered “everything and then some” for satisfied drivers. Car and Driver claimed that this year’s model was “Fiercely styled, smooth, and spacious for an SUV”, and celebrated its stance in an article that remembered the Blazer’s entry on the scene back in 1969. This was when the frame components swarmed over a good deal of the interior space, and the ride was quite close to ground level.

After living through a few interesting midsize incarnations through the 90s, this latest version arrived on lots here at the Powerhouse for the 2019 model year. Some new exterior colors round out its appearance, and wireless charging on all models adds to the productivity factor and high-tech allure. The Blazer EV has already snagged up Motor Trend’s quite prestigious SUV of the Year award for 2024 and competes with foes such as the Ford Bronco, Honda Passport, Subaru Outback, Toyota 4 Runner, Toyota Venz, and Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport.

This test drive crew was given the 3.6-liter V6 engine, which performed quite up to par and aggressively. Cranking out 308 horsepower, the Blazer roared onto highways nicely, even when a long uphill stretch was waiting for them. The Car and Driver team was able to nail down 6.6 seconds for the 0-60 time, with heaps of admiration given to the 9-speed automatic for operating at sheer capacity without drawing too much-unwanted attention to itself. The Sport, all-wheel-drive, and two-wheel-drive modes were equally productive and useful, with the Sport offering full-on engagement and a bit more thrilling composure.

The rear seats are quite roomy and comfortable, with each limb of even taller passengers being able to completely enjoy the ride. The Enhanced Convenience Package provides the extra long-haul comforts of heated front seats, along with completely power-operated steering wheel adjustments, making each mile that much easier. The base 2LT package is a great entry point for most shoppers, offering convenience features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a remote start, and Wi-Fi hotspot. There’s also very keen driver-assistance tech such as the “gentle guardian” in the form of lane-keep assist, and Chevy’s Teen Driver system.

Drawing heavy inspiration from the Chevy Camaro, the climate controls are adjusted by very cool twisting rings around the vents. When equipped with the V6 engine and the optional trailering package, this Chevy can lug up to 4,500 lbs of extra lake fun or other recreational gear. The IIHS gave the 2023 Chevy Blazer the highest rating of “Good” in all six crash tests, while the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave it an overall safety rating of five out of five stars.

The Sound and Technology package adds adaptive cruise control, enhanced forward automatic emergency braking, a surround-view parking camera system, a digital rearview mirror, a Bose 8-speaker stereo, two additional USB ports, navigation, wireless device charging, and 120-volt household-style power outlet. The Car and Driver crew remarked that the Blazer “shines brightly on the open road, with muscle-car styling that it punchily lives up to.” Nightshift Blue is now an available hue on the RS trim level, and there are brand-new choices of Fountain Blue, Sterling Gray, Copper Bronze, and Radiant Red.

2024 Chevy Blazer Stands Out in Crossover Market

It is not a secret that the crossover market is hotter than it’s ever been, with so many superior models here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse to choose from. The 2024 Chevy Blazer stands out immediately with its passionate design and aggressive stance, making itself difficult to ignore in terms of attitude and game-readily pleasant persona. In a time where many crossovers have become a bit stale, the Blazer has doubled down on a very spirited sense of adventure and thrilling engagement.

The 2024 Blazer is available with either front or all-wheel drive, with all but the base model deriving power from the robust & reliable V6 engine. The Blazer took quite a few very useful cues from the Camaro’s notable performance book, with the front commanding an assertive presence and assisting with a daunting vibe. Difficult to ignore and not falling prey to blending in too easily, this year’s Blazer has a wider grille design, narrower front headlights, new wheels, and new taillights.

The base model offers the 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder that cranks out 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, and fares excellently for a spirited daily drive or family shuttling duty. The available V6 is good for 308 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque, which the TopSpeed.com auto writing crew thought had a hum after stepping on the gas that is “simply lovely and fierce.” The V6 allows for very efficient passing authority, while also allowing those in the rearview mirror an audible snapshot of a sweet exhaust note as a temporary farewell gift!

The V6 also adds a good deal of spirit to the package, along with charming extra grunt to pair with its looks. Competitors such as the Honda Passport and Ford Edge will have to succumb to a bit of disappointment as the Blazer leads the pack ruthlessly in the acceleration department! Regardless of if your frequent drives happen to be light or heavy, the Blazer has fared quite well at tapping into the Camaro’s pavement-pounding spirit. The crossover is also now equipped with a fully independent suspension that is well-tuned for optimal handling, guaranteeing confidence while on cornering duty.

The Blazer is equipped with two-way adjustable head restraints in the front and rear, along with the extremely adjustable and luxurious comfort of an 8-way power driver seat. On higher-end trims such as the 3LT and RS, the passenger enjoys the comforts of a six-way power seat. There’s plenty of space to fully stretch out for the back seat passengers, guaranteed to alleviate Thanksgiving excursion trip dramatics by a nice fraction! All the models with the V6 do a fantastic job of managing the all-important torque steer characteristic, as the all-wheel drive smooths out any instilled rough edges.

With all-wheel drive and the optional V6, the Blazer can haul up to 4,500 lbs, which even renders it fully eligible to tow its full weight. New for this year is a standard 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen in the center console, which outgrows last year’s 8-inch screens by a fair amount. You can cook up your own custom playlist on your phone, and then keep things properly juiced up with the available wireless charting feature. The onboard vehicle health management system is perfect for the habitual procrastinator or perpetually busy, as it is there for you as a reminder of vital scheduled maintenance.

2024 Chevy Trax Masters Affordable SUV Travel

The 4th quarter of the year is not just a time when ghouls, garnishes, and perfectly-trimmed turkeys are on our minds at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse! Many of the nation’s most esteemed auto publications are busy prepping their unique regimens of testing, so they can report back to consumers regarding models’ appeal and value. The Motor Trend crew were taming tracks and getting their tablets ready for their “2024 SUV of the Year” testing, where six traits that current drivers are looking for are thoroughly ranked.

Eligible vehicles must be completely new or significantly revised, and they are rated on design, safety, efficiency, engineering excellence, all important value and driving performance of intended function. The 2024 Chevy Trax hit so many of the necessary benchmarks immediately while offering a very appealing SUV package at an entry-level price point that most automakers are beginning to flee. Many seasoned experts have wondered if the front-wheel-drive-only approach was going to render some categories as coming up short, but we were thrilled to find out that it was just the opposite.

The current generation is a bit longer than the slightly pricier Trailblazer SUV, with its very upright proportions also seeing drastic improvement and the reworking of a lower roof. At such an entry-level and inflation-friendly price point, one of the first questions we hear from people on our lot is what kind of powertrain resides ready for action under the hood. This is fitted with a 1.2-liter Turbo Inline-3 which cranks out 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic. The top-of-the-line Activ trim comes with 18-inch black wheels, a very cool black grill, and titanium-colored accents that complement the entire exterior nicely.

The Driver Confidence package offers the very modern and convenient Adaptive Cruise Control, and this crew loved their exterior dip of Cayenne Orange metallic paint. As they pulled away in their hue which was quite suitable for the Halloween week, they set off with the task of testing their Trax a bit off-road, which can punish even the fittest of vehicles. The steering was perfectly light and responsive, and they experienced minimal turbo lag when making the steep demand for all-out acceleration. The Trax’s affordability and excellent execution made it one of the first front-drive-only front-drive-only vehicles to advance all the way up the tier to the SUV of the Year finalist round.

The clever packaging, cargo space, larger screen, fantastic value, and extra smooth driving experience add up for a massive success dominating the SUV of the Year criteria. The KBB.com team praised the Trax for its user-friendly tech, value pricing, and comfortably roomy interior. The suspension has surprised many with its sporty characteristic, with its stellar demeanor on quick turns and winding roads. It's an SUV with driving dynamics that are like a small sedan or hatchback, and the feature-rich touchscreen is aimed directly at the driver.

The Trax also boasts best-in-class rear-seat legroom and 25.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. Customers find this level of curb appeal phenomenal for the price, and other features such as following-distance indicator and high-beam assist are excellent for the busy urban commuter. Ideal for a recent grad, newlyweds, or anyone shifting into a promising and all-new time of life, the Trax is excellent at excelling in everything needed while keeping the new sticker price at a reasonable notch.

2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison: An Upsize Moment for The Much-Loved Beast on Wheels

We can attest here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse that the 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison should not be dismissed as simply an ordinary ZR2 with a hurried extra dress-up from the expert AEV crew! This off-road-ready treatment worked amazingly well for the Bison’s first generation and resulted in the creation of a wildly popular and capable namesake. It also opened the door for a few more foundational changes that the Car and Driver crew got to set out and enjoy during a spirited 3-day trek across the demanding Nevada desert.

They first made a few select adjustments to optimize the truck, as a front axle was shifted forward relative to the cab to accommodate larger tires, and the signature Multimatic DSSV shocks were situated outboard of the leaf springs. These quick few alterations paved the way for a more extreme and capable Bison, and the trusty package was then made complete with massive 35-inch tires to replace the existing 33-inch rubber pairs. The fender liners needed a complete resculpting, and the suspension was adequately jacked up another valuable half-inch.

The lift and extra inch of tire radius increased ground clearance from 10.7 inches to a more capable 12.2 inches, with the insides now prevented from harmful rubbing. The 2024 ZR2 Bison is also fitted with brand-new fender flares that give it an 80.1-inch width that leaves things with a meaner stance and nicely “impatient” stature. The hydraulic jounce bumpers at all four corners are very useful as a lightning-rod grade additive to the Bison, which provides the foundation for a more dedicated form of compression damping.

As the crew began in the open California desert, the Bison immediately proved that it was worth every inch of trouble and upgrade time. As they forged forward into a tricky bmx-style whoop section, the truck gobbled them up effortlessly. The hydraulic jounce bumpers were able to effectively soak up larger hits with a progressive stance, and the landings from the berms were precise and immediately well-planted. The 35-inch tires easily rolled overhauls that smaller tires would have quickly lodged up on, and the standard front and rear lockers were not quite yet needed for an effective assault.

If the group had needed to re-adjust things on a dime and air down the 17-inch AEV beadlock-capable wheels, it wouldn’t have been a problem. After more time spent in the treacherous rocks, the Off-Road mode was perfect for smooth creeping and didn’t present an overly sensitive throttle trait to control the brakes. The Baja mode proved itself to be a group favorite after hitting the open trails, and the relaxed stability control program that aligns with it can be disengaged if needed with a few quick clicks on the touchscreen.

It's no surprise that Jalopnik editor Elizabeth Blackstock claimed that the ZR2 Bison was “one vehicle that can take my abuse and still make me feel like a driver who can traverse a mountain without issue.” She commented that the new design immediately served up a more comfortable and planted sensation, and this was worth its weight in gold along with its nimble and smaller size. The Terrain mode limits speed to 50 mph and can even dictate a sudden activation of the brakes if needed. For anyone from a very seasoned off-roader to someone just starting out, the 2024 ZR2 Bison allows for one to keep their bearings while enjoying the benefits of “being poised in all-out armor!”

2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD ZR2 Bison Off-Roading Experience

As trucks have become more and more popular in the last few years at the Mid Missouri Powerhouse, more than half of proud Silverado HD owners frequently ditch the pavement to experience off-roading adventures. Chevy has been working on a ZR2 version of its heavy-duty trucks for 2023, and no awesome terrain-conquering detail has been left untapped. It’s ready for the many challenging boulders, divots, drops, and ruts that trails offer courtesy of 25-inch Goodyear Wrangler MT tires, new front suspension arms, a locking rear differential, and amazingly effective Multimatic spool-valve shock absorbers.

This is one hefty rig that shows up primed and ready for action with not a shard of weakness and maintains segment-leading tow ratings with its standard 6.6-liter Gasoline V8 or the optional 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8. To ensure that all bases were covered as far as the rough and tumble competition, it was necessary to join forces with American Expedition Vehicles to build a competent truck that was thoroughly ready for taking on terrain ranging from desperado dirt running to all-out boulder smashing.

As a very sweet above-and-beyond option for the 2024 Silverado 2500 HD ZR2, this upgrade equips you with winch compatible very rugged AEV steel bumpers, hefty integrated recovery points for the front and rear, 18-inch AEV alloy wheels, and amazing boron-steel skid plates protecting the valuables underneath such as the transfer case. The KBB.com auto review team was dispatched with the Bizon to Johnson Valley, California, and during the first leg of the trip, they appreciated the incredibly quiet quality of comfort and very relaxed driving demeanor. With dirt roads immediately up on the agenda, the spool-valve Multimatic dampers did a great job of keeping the 8,450-lb truck from bouncing around too much on the challenging washboard stretches the crew encountered.

A rocky and very sandy climb was next on the list, which the large Bison clamored up without any trace of breaking a sweat. They did rely heavily on the forward-facing camera, which enabled them to position the Bison directly where they needed it to be as they crept along and were faring greatly with the well-allocated 957 lb-ft of torque. On the way down things got a bit tougher, and the crew found themselves situating their XXL Goodyears directly on a few rocks instead of conveniently traversing around them. The final challenge was a short climb that was littered with dangerous rocks, and the troupe was relieved when they at least did not need spotters to conquer the challenge.

The Bison’s 11.8 inches of ground clearance had massively saved the day in this instance, and the group had driven right up and over individual rocks and then had to set the Bison down gently while exercising very precise brake modulation. With a bit of patience and a hardcore focus on the line they wanted to tow, they were able to claim victory without any scraping carnage to the awesome truck’s sweet red paint job. This truck is bound to appeal to those who need a very luxurious workhouse for hauling and towing, who will be comforted by the fact that they can weather anything “insanity-grade” hazard navigating drops in their way!

2023 Chevy Tahoe RST Dominates Daily-Drive Segment With Performance-Enhancing Extras

Performance-minded packages are all the rage with drivers who have already decided they prefer a ride on the commanding and larger side! The 2023 Chevy Tahoe RST Performance 4WD is an exhilarating and confident version of our favorite body-on-frame SUV here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse. It’s outfitted with pursuit-grade handling and grip components and eases onto the front lines with some mild engine tuning to beef up power. The Drive’s auto review team explored some recreational and off-the-beaten-path driving with the Tahoe, and claimed they walked away with an appreciative smile.

The Rally Sport (RS) badge is a sweet appearance package that blacks out a few select exterior components to offer a sportier look. Expert car reviewer Peter Nelson claimed that this welcome addition most definitely cranks things up to a sinister and stealth demeanor, with the black offering an excellent choice of contrast for the Radiant Red paint dip. Peter is 6’3” and he even felt a bit on the smaller side once inside, while enjoying the ability to slide in without immediately bumping his head.

The cabin struck him as uniquely plush right away, with very comfortable seats along with heated and ventilated seating. He had all the legroom that any sprawled-out journey could require and enjoyed the convenience of folding the rear seats down to a flat floor to bring the cargo room up to 123 feet. He was thrilled to haul his very large road bike down to scenic Orange County for some PCH-tackling open-air enjoyment. He was excited about not needing to detach or re-adjust any of the bike’s components, as he could just roll it easily on in and out for transport.

When it came to interior materials, the Tahoe was outfitted with upscale buttons and switches, with the transmission controls making a striking first impression. The instrument cluster is completely digital, while also simple to read and navigate. Chevy Safety Assist proved to be a great tool during peter's first journey, which includes forward collision alert, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, front pedestrian braking, and automatic emergency braking. Behind this very massive stance lives the very supreme 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8, cranking out 433 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque.

This is a 13-horsepower gain over the standard RST, as well as the result of a much more advanced intake system and performance exhaust. You’ll be able to reach 60 mph in just 5.8 seconds and cover the quarter mile in just 14.2 seconds. Exhaust notes are the “stuff that fans are made instantly from”, and the Tahoe RST makes good in this department with a decibel or two more than the conventional model while on a leisurely spin. Punching the throttle with force gives the Tahoe a menacing and fitting single-cam growl, which is ideal for any seasoned V8 purist who doesn’t want to repeatedly disturb the neighborhood peace.

The police-grade equipment stiffens up the springs, retunes the dampers, and makes other improvements to the chassis. There are cop-spec 275/55/20 Firestone Firehawk Pursuit tires mounted on all fours, adding to a noticeable jiggle during each ride that offers a unique sense of rigidity. Body roll was quite reasonably kept in check, and the RST was able to confidently take on the unpaved roads of the Santa Ana Mountains’ Santiago Peak with ease. Other very cool additions that the RST package serves up are a power tilt, telescoping, heated steering wheel, and heavy-duty Brembo front brakes.

2023 Chevy Silverado ZR2 AEV Bison: Built for the Wild

At up to 2,000 pounds, the bison is North America’s largest land animal and remains a symbol of how massive and strong a mammal can be. As we take a close look at the Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 AEV Bison here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse, it’s pretty easy to say all of the same descriptive and complementary things. The Bison treatment is now an option on this fuller-sized pickup, with both this and the Colorado situating our brand nicely in the extreme off-road genre that is also populated with the Ram TR and Ford Raptor.

The Autoblog reporting staff took on the duty of driving a ZR2 Bison on extended drives in Washington and Michigan recently and had plenty of great things to say about its capability and dependability. The ZR2 trim begins with the very awesome 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Things just get better and burlier from there, with Multimatic DSSV dampers, lifted suspension, 33-inch Goodyear Wranglers, and front and rear electronic-locking differentials.

Another very sweet yet surly addition is the pair of powder-coated winch-ready bumpers. The very thorough AEV crew then threw a massive dash of spice into the already-amazing recipe with press-hardened steel shields to the differentials, transfer case, and fuel tank. There’s also a nice pair of steel rock rails and black 18-inch wheels that appropriately set the tone for full-on slaying the wild. The Bison does not quite scream as loudly for attention as the Raptor or TRX, but still simply looks great while tapping its foot waiting for you in the parking lot.

It may seem like a small detail, but the Carhartt all-weather mats in the AEV Bison served their purpose well after an entire week of trucking up and down the trails of Olympic National Park. Gritty sand and mud were spending quite some time getting caked into the mats, as the gang set in with a vacuum and still didn’t pick up that much when it was time to get clean. The Bison’s ride height is actually quite practical when it comes to rush-hour traffic, as you can spot vehicles coming to a standstill during a traffic jam quickly while having a sense of what’s next on the horizon.

Another instance in the wild where the DSSV dampers did an excellent job was driving in Michigan’s upper peninsula, where speed bumps were not a problem at all, and off-road sand mounds were conquered without even a flinch. While conquering the challenging backroads of the Quinault Rain Forest loop, the truck handled steep slopes and drop-offs with ease and felt constantly rooted in just the right sense without the nimble steering qualities one would expect from a performance sedan.

Sandy, steep, and mud-washed are all-terrain categories that require a rig that isn’t going to suddenly balk at a bit of protruding tundra or other stray debris. This group had opted for a Bison that was loaded with a few awesome extra performance and comfort treats, beginning with the Tech Package, and heading on up the chain with a hard tonneau cover, Multiflex tailgate, and Glacier Blue Metallic Paint. Every single commodity on the planet is now going up in price, and considering the attractive design, excellent materials, and useful technology that this Bison can claim, the price didn't strike this group as offensive in the least.

The experts who are so very used to putting capable trucks through rigorous punishment at The Drive.com took one of these fully loaded beauties to Rush Springs Ranch. In our neck of the woods here at the Powerhouse, the crew quickly found a mud pit about 100 feet long. They plunged right in and never struggled for an instant for grip, and successfully forged through water that was creeping up to the bottom of the doors. The turn-down exhaust pipes came in handy during a descent into a dry creek bed, as there was not a lick of damage after inadvertently stuffing the front end into gravel.
