Motor Trend's Fully-Fledged Road Test of 2019 Silverado Reveals Tremendous Test Stats

One of the latest articles from Motor Trend that spotlights the coming Silverado does a great job of stating what it takes to do a manufacturing and building job right. These days, many entities are under a great amount of pressure to look out for production schedules and the bottom line, and the massive amounts of protocol that exist to release new models rapidly. These writers recognized that the 2019 Silverado variants stood out in a major way compared to other offerings that are similar, and benefited from a bit of extra time spent tweaking and experimenting on the design floor.

The Motor Trend team had a few weeks to sample three different brand new models, each outfitted with Dynamic Fuel Management, a crew cab, and short 5-7” bed. Their personal favorite was not surprising: the all-wheel-drive Silverado RST equipped with the new 5.3-liter DFM V-8 makes 355 hp, and 383 lb-ft of torque, and is mated to an 8-speed automatic. The new bodywork and cabin that the Silverado sports are distinctive, impressive, and absolutely representative of what any demanding truck owner wants to see after purchase regarding the current market's options.

New manufacturing techniques allowed for the truck bed to be a full 7 inches wider, and the number of standard tie-downs have jumped to a total of 12. With the 5.3-liter DFM engine, the Silverado is ranked to two 2,100 pounds, and maximum payload capacity is 2,500 pounds with the V-6. The test track is one place where a truck can truly prove itself, and lay a solid claim to all of the rumors that dictate what stats may or may not be when it comes to the all-important finish line. The Silverado Trail Boss nailed down a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 6.4 seconds, and the 6.2-liter equipped Silverado High Country was undoubtedly the best at acceleration, completing the quarter in 14.4 seconds at 98.3 mph.

When you really lay down and bury your foot into the throttle, the ten-speed automatic is surely where it's at. Being very current and well put together, it sounds unreal when put to the test. Extra USB ports, well-placed hidden storage cubbies in the rear seat backs, and the way in which the Silverado can buck up and tackle a hill are qualities that are going to shine through with extra vigor on every single drive pending rugged destinations. This was a truck that was built with the purveying need to be all things to all people, as even the luxury car genre has crept up on demands made of the trucking category as of late. Ask us about how the Z71 Off-Road Package ups the ante with its standard inclusion on the Trail Boss: this is a model that has proven itself in terms of long-lasting durability, horsepower provision, and class-leading truck performance!

2020 Chevy Tahoe Described By “TheFastLaneTruck.com” as “Successful, Capable, and Stable”

View spy shots by clicking here

Spy shots are one of the prime outlets out there to alert us as to what new models will sport as far as new features, safety tech, and exterior appearance. 2020 will be here soon even though it does not seem like it, and the 2020 Chevy Tahoe spy shots we got our hands on recently revealed a new shape, independent rear suspension, quad exhaust pipes, and new door-mounted side mirrors. It is exciting every single day that the current Tahoe is the absolute winner in the full-size SUV sales lead. The Tahoe, GMC, Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade have all been nipping at the heels as of late, and so when the Tahoe was due for a redesign, many different questions were posed about just how it could be improved.

The staff at TheFastLaneTruck.com were smart enough to know that since the frame is very large, some improvements to the ride quality and rear suspension may be ideal. Can it be the best on deck without making sacrifices in the towing capacity department? Visibility could be improved a bit, as the side mirrors may be prone to be moved down just a touch. Fuel efficiency is always one area where everyone from corporate bean counters to die-hard driving fans want to see gains, as fluctuations in price may be imminent on the horizon.

An aluminum hood may be expected, as well as rear hatch, and door on the 2020 Tahoe. With a close look at the prototype, you see that performance is still a very serious issue with the Tahoe, and that engine types will probably be shared with the new Silverado. The 5.3-liter and 6.2-Liter V8 with dynamic fuel management are expected to be on the list, as well as the 2.7-liter turbocharged gas engine, and the 3.0-liter straight-six turbo-diesel Duramax. Known as a people-hauler, one of the things that the future versions will undoubtedly boast is ride technology that will greatly encourage solo drives, edging the Tahoe out of the “family-in-tow-only” niche.

The other day we were lamenting that this would be the perfect vehicle for a surveyor, someone with an extensive drone of photography business, or coach of a constantly-traveling sports team. Traditionally, the Suburban and very similar Tahoe use a very solid rear axle, which is instrumental in enhancing the towing capability of the vehicle. An independent rear suspension is the key to providing the overall lower weight, and improved ride quality.

The seasoned staff on duty at Carpreview.com claimed that since every current rival uses an independent rear suspension, that the coming-soon Tahoe will be well worth the wait. The likely return of the Rally Sport Truck editions should offer the pristine and very-high-powered V-8, which ups the ante in the grunt department. Magnetic Ride Control and high-performance brakes will be another very noticeable asset during any long or short haul: it's safe to say that the arrival of the 2020 Tahoe will tempt anyone with a larger-than-average group to cart around!

The Best in Off-Road Adventure Just Got More Intense: Spotlight On The Colorado ZR2 Bison

Lately here at the Powerhouse, many of us have been jostling each other at the power and prowess of one of our greatest competitors in the truck realm, the Ford Raptor. We merely scoff at the premise of losing the battle in the long run, as many additives have been tacked on to our Colorado ZR2 Bison for 2019, the current champion of everything off-road related. Based on the AEV concept presented during last year's SEMA show, the new ZR2 Bison features very wicked custom gear from the tried-and-true professionals at American Expedition Vehicles. One of the differences is a winch mounting plate underneath with “Chevrolet” spelled out across its width, in addition to a custom AEV steel bumper with fog lights.

Larger fender flares are now also positioned over very cool customer 17-inch black wheels, 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, an AEV steel rear bumper with integrated tow books, and Bison decals on the bed. When you are setting out to master the art of rock climbing, skid plate protection is one of the most important elements of the game there is. Aluminum skid plates are now traded for a total of five new steel units ideal for the covering of the transfer case, both differentials, engine oil pan, and the fuel tank. We love the cool new logos of a charging bison, and the prominent AEV name now making its appearance on the headrests and tailgate.

The Bison has predominantly shared many of the same traits with the standard ZR2's equipment, sporting the usual Multimatic remote-control reservoir dampers, cast-iron control arms, front and rear electronic locking diffs, a two-winch lift, and a 3.5-inch wider front and rear track then is found on the lower-model Colorado Z71. The engine selections don't favor anything on the weak side: you have your pick of the turbo-diesel 2.8-liter inline-four with a six-speed automatic transmission, or the 3.6-liter gasoline V-6 with the 8-speed automatic, in crew cab or extended cab body types. This is the truck that the folks at Jalopnik raved about as “a plated pickup to power through anything”, and were also in high praise of the protective plating's amazing strength.

These hard-working and very talented folks from AEV are the ones who take credit for turning the Jeep Wrangler into the fully-fledged and fiercely off-road ready AEV Brute, and are currently taking the time to modify the Dodge Ram pickup line to boot. Since the skid plates are part of the main ingredient, it's hard not to notice that they have been constructed of very durable and able hot-stamped Boron steel. It is on deck to make an enormous difference for anyone who plans to take a truck off-road: differentials, as well as oil pans, can be some of the very first items to crack hard under pressure, and this new additive to protect the underbelly is part of a sensible plan to detract from severe damage during off-road endeavors. Activities such as crawling rocks and racing through raging rivers always score high points here in West Lynn, and you're going to be more than excited to embark on your own adventure with the trusty and wilderness-ready 2019 ZR2 Bison!

2019 Silverado Trailering Touts Massive Improvement, Well-Integrated App

Mid-MIssouri Powerhouse customers get immensely focused when they set their sights on a new truck purchase, and towing ability ranks near the top of desired qualities. Next year's 2019 Silverado 1500 will introduce several new levels of towing feature to improve customers' experiences during trailering: all light-duty Silverado models have the myChevrolet trailering phone app capability, and adding the Advanced Trailer System allows full access to every feature while inside the vehicle.

A groundbreaking and monumental industry-first trailering lable is helping to take a majority of the guesswork out of calculating the combined weight of customer truck and trailer combination, with final completion taking place after Chevy spoke with 7,000 customers over a period of 18,000 hours. It was no surprise to us here after years in the business that sixty percent of those surveyed named towing as a very key quality to consider during purchase. All four of the trailering levels on the Silverado 1500 will offer up much greater confidence, easier trailer hitching, and one of the most important qualities in existence: a greatly improved sense of connectivity between the trailer and truck itself.

One of the coolest things about the purchase of the 2019 Silverado 1500 is the addition of the myChevrolet app, which offers features such as the very useful pre-departure step-by-step towing checklists, and a glossary of towing terms for all compatible devices and plans. One of the best features of this plan is the ability to quickly access your device, and conduct a finely-detailed light trailer test that incorporates an automatic exterior light sequence to help confirm the trailer is properly connected in all ways. In years past, this was a two-person job, and it is wildly revolutionary that now a single individual can properly connect a trailer by themselves, and do a thorough check on the lights.

For customers that have an even higher priority level on their towing needs, the Advanced Trailering System provides the features to make towing an easier process all-around. It is available on the LTZ and High Country Trim levels, as well as LT, RST, and Trail Boss. The system also included Auto Parking Brake Assist, which is the ideal fit for customers who have dealt with the frustration of trying to get their truck aligned flawlessly. When the vehicle is put into Hitch View, it works overtime to help avoid vehicle movement after the customer lines the truck up with the trailer, then shifts to park.

You may be moving horses, getting ready to do a concrete job, or just having to take on multiple extra miles during the week: The Trailer Pressure Monitoring System is one great feature that can help monitor the tire pressure by use of the infotainment system in the truck. It allows the driver to continuously monitor the temperature of the tires as well, to help prevent blowouts and the worst kind of overheating. The infotainment app that is paired up with the Advanced Trailering System now allows customers to track the mileage, fuel economy, and transmission temperature of the truck during a tow, and you even have the freedom to create up to five in-depth profiles for the different trailer types on your work docket. Hauling goods around is one of the most important aspects of any truck owner's regimen, and we guarantee that you'll love what next year's Silverado has the capability to get up and pull!
