2021 Chevy Blazer Now Sees Active Safety Features Across Most Trims

During the sunny, warm days of Summer here at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse, we have talked to so many loyal customers that love the aggressive styling and raw practicality found in the new Blazer. Now as we scour the internet for information regarding all incoming models, the always awesome folks on staff at Autoblog.com served up the story about the 2021 model offering a trailering package, perfect for the lake or a tougher-than-average day on the job. It makes a 4,500 – lb tow rating available on front-wheel-drive trims that have the 3.6-liter V6.

As disclosed to the public by GM-Trucks, the list of minor adjustments to the new year's model doesn't stop there. The biggest change is that four of the six Blazer respective trims are now getting six active safety features standard. When the Blazer was introduced, buyers needed to pay to get some of the best in current-technology safety features like automatic emergency braking and forward collision alert on the Premier and RS top-level trims. From now on a Chevy Safety Assist Package combines AEB with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, following distance indicator, forward collision alert, and Intellibeam headlights that automatically toggle between high and low beams.

For 2021 the Safety Assist package will now be standard on the 2LT, 3LT, RS, and Premier trim models. Adaptive Cruise Control is offered on the RS and Premier trims as part of the Driver Confidence II Package, along with enhanced automatic emergency braking, HD Surround Vision, LED headlights, rear camera mirror, safety alert seat, and wireless smartphone charging. There are also four new colors to choose from this year: Cayenne Orange Metallic, Iron Gray Metallic, Pewter Metallic, and the premium Cherry Red Tincoat.

The RS trim in front-wheel drive now snags an 18-inch aluminum spare wheel instead of the current steel number, and the performance-enhancing advanced all-wheel-drive system with two clutches on the rear axle is just an option for the RS trim and not Premier. The Premier trim steps up from the Chevy Infotainment 3 Premium system to Chevy Infotainment 3 Plus, which is also now offered as standard on the RS.

Here MotorTrend dubs the new Blazer as the “Camaro of SUVs” and loved how the interior was freshened and it possessed extreme competence on the road. Thanks to the 3.6-liter V6 that cranks out 308 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque, this AWD runs the quick race from 0 to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds, and this particular blog’s staff would enjoy seeing the LT1 V8 from the outgoing C7 Corvette dumped into the Blazer just for high-powered and haughty giggles. We also understand that channeling all of that power would require Chevy’s very best front drive based all-wheel-drive system, with appropriate hardening to handle the torque output. We hope to see you here soon this summer at the Mid MO Powerhouse, where amazing deals like the brand-new Blazer will be rolling off the lot repeatedly after production!
