Santa's Helpers Holiday Showdown: Stacking Up The 2021 Ford Ranger Against The 2021 Chevy Colorado

As our favorite time of year here draws near at the Mid-Missouri Powerhouse, we are accustomed to all of our customers enjoying “the reason for the season”. As part of their goal of finding the best new vehicle, it is a wise decision to compare our favorites to the competition, seeing how they ultimately measure up. We have our sights on what we believe are the best cars and trucks in the industry as the leader, but an in-depth look can provide you with knowledge about the similarities and differences between us and our rivals. This week we want to show you how our trusty Chevy Colorado comes out when pitted against the visiting team in the form of the Ford Ranger.

The Ford Ranger now re-enters the midsize truck market featuring the 2.3-liter inline 4-cylinder engine that cranks out 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, which is the one powertrain among two cab sizes and two bed lengths. It does boast the “Co-Pilot 360” suite for safety, and a Blind Spot Monitoring feature that now includes whatever you are towing in its field of vision. The SuperCrew comes recommended over the tighter-fitting SuperCab, and it is a truck that understandably enjoys success as well as a loyal following.

The Chevy Colorado heartily brandishes a ride that feels unlike any other truck and is an excellent option for those who want to accomplish everything with just one vehicle. The only mid-size pickup to offer a diesel powertrain, the 2.8-liter Duramax renders it at the top of the list for towing and mileage. If off-road is where you love to drive most, the Z71 and ZR2 trim levels are available with the best in hazardous terrain equipment. The wider track, lifted suspension, revised bumpers, and protective skid plate allow for the ability to blast through dunes and navigate trails with confidence.

The Ranger was tested in-depth by the Kelly Blue Book team alongside our Colorado, and they appreciated its high-tech features, above-average fuel economy, and the Tremor Package which improves off-road ability. The 2021 Colorado saw heaping praise for its diesel option, ability to be heavily customized to preference, and one very important element that alone saw it edging ahead as the better choice: best-in-class towing. We think that our prized Colorado has the much better looks of the two and a sense of individual character.

Make sure to see us over this holiday season and test drive this easy-to-maneuver and capable truck, which saw a brand-new aggressively-styled face for the ZR2 model this year. On top of red tow hooks, the Z71 and ZR2 also have an available new Sand Dune metallic paint color. Some of the key safety features on board include forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and a rear parking sensor.
